Notability, NEVENT

[edit]

@Jim Michael: In reply to your edit summary (this is easily notable enough for an article. Like the Togoga airstrike, it has a death toll of over 50.) Keeping a standalone article isn't determined on whether there is another extant article, but whether this one passes WP:GNG and WP:NEVENT. Specifically, see Inclusion criteria. It fits the criteria; it has historical significance & is covered by reliable, mainstream media sources. I mentioned the Togoga airstrike because it's a similar event, with a similar level of notability. Each was an airstrike by the Ethiopian Air Force which killed over 50 civilians in the Tigray Region. It's not a routine or minor event. Jim Michael (talk) 20:18, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Historical significance? By whose measure? Or is it just one of hundreds of other skirmishes in a messy war? See also WP:NOTNEWS & WP:RECENTISM. Platonk (talk) 20:54, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't a skirmish - the air force killed over 50 civilians in an airstrike on an IDP camp; that's not a usual target for the military. Like I say, it's clearly of similar notability to the similar airstrike on a market in Togoga. Jim Michael (talk) 21:19, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get to this shortly--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:39, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Images properly licensed
  • Earwig report 18.7%
  • Add the abbreviation for internally displaced persons in parentheses in the lead, same for United Nations. Do the same for all organizations for which you want to use the abbreviations for later in the article
  • Bombs are dropped, not fired
  • Source 26 only supports 108 killed; doesn't mention any injured. Source 27 mentions both. Delete source 26
  • Other spot checks supported by the sources
  • where it was known drones were being constructed Awkward, rephrase
  • Spell out OHCHR on first use--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 13:50, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
