Note to former DSOC members[edit]

This article can stand to use some illustrations. If you happen to have any old pinback buttons, stickers, or snapshots of Mike Harrington or other principles of DSOC that you can put into the public domain, please do not hesitate to write. Thanks! —Tim Davenport, Corvallis, OR MutantPop@aol.com Carrite (talk) 01:16, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm far too young to have been in DSOC, but I know a good number of members. I will ask around and see what I can do. Ripeugenedebs (talk) 04:00, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary sources[edit]

The article is based on Harrington's memoirs. Secondary reliable sources need to be found.  Kiefer.Wolfowitz 10:00, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

nsmeier[edit]

I am unsure where to write this. I had a few minor edits that were rejected, since I might have some bias. The first edit I tried to make was to remove what appears to me to be a clear biased comment--the claim that the organization had a secret board, and using quotations around "National Board," which implies they are not a legitimate board. Since no references are supplied to back up any illegitamacy, they seem to be there just to disparage, and shows, in my opinion, the writer's bias.

The next minor edit was to state that the home was of Deborah and Fred Meier, not just Deborah. This is just fact, the home belonged to both of them, and they were both active founding members. NO idea what is objectionable about such a correction. Lastly, Joe and Pearl Willen, Deborah Meier's parents had never been members of a socialist organization nor proclaimed themselves socialists, so to say Deborah is a second generation socialist is just factually inaccurate. Her parents were active in the social/political arena, but not as socialists. No citation is provided by the author to substantiate his/her claim they were socialists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nsmeier (talkcontribs) 20:02, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions and willingness to talk.I completely understand how you feel those factors might be untrue, but truth does not equal verifiability. At the moment, every single sentence is cited and sourced. Changing the details but not the source is against WP's policies. Michael Harrington's book is currently not on Amazon's "Look Inside" feature, so I can't verify the claims of the article or Nsmeier at the immediate moment. That said, even if it's not true, and if the book says it is -- do you have any sources that support your claim it is not true? Other than, presumably on my part a family connection?
