This article is extremely detailed! Awesome! Just keep out the fan fictionTiman123 04:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page is looking pretty good! However, many of the character descriptions seem to be a bit overlong, containing extraneous detail (like calling Gunther the "commandant of the weapons course") and lots of speculation that isn't directly supported by the game. I'd think that ideally, each character should get a good-sized paragraph at most. Clayhalliwell 22:20, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just made this page a week or so ago by merging a bunch of single character pages together. Because many of them were once single pages is probably why a lot of the descriptions are over-long, as the author was trying to pad them a bit. If you see any way to improve this page feel free to go to it. -- Grandpafootsoldier 07:07, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Original research, speculation and out-right bullshit

[edit]

A lot of this article seems to be either invented by the contributer or possibly taken from fan-fiction works, which obviously isn't canon and therefore needs to be removed. If anyone else wants to improve this article, as well as Minor Deus Ex characters can you please add requests for citation tags where appropriate by adding {{fact}} after any suspect statements made in the article, and deleting any disputable statement if no citation is given after a few days. It would also be helpful if any editors contributing new information remember to include citations too. - 81.178.102.118 22:25, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - specifically, does anyone know of any canonical evidence for "Her rifle, a miniaturized variant, was implanted into her right arm during her augmentation process"? (Navarre.) Also, I believe that if you attack Paul on the dock in the first mission, he uses his assault-rifle one-handed against you for a short time - I presume this also happens in a more normal combat situation involving him - this would render "a unique fighting style in that she always fires her assault rifle one-handed, while everyone else in the Deus Ex world has to use both hands to fire that weapon" inaccurate. --Wootery 00:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Another bit of info I don't think is true: when you come back to UNATCO in DX:IW, the bums speculate why the machine was full of lemon lime soda, but I don't believe you find out anywhere why, especially not that it was a conspiracy as this article claims. Can anyone back up the conspiracy theory? This, however, is a minor note at best. ThanatosInstinct 02:58, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright the Navarre section really needs to be revamped, I mean no where in the game is it decalred shes 5'10" and worked with other organizations. I think I'll edit around a little. Concerning the Lemon Lime well It's either a mistake on the part of the mechanic or a joke played on the entire staff considering they say the entire machine is filled with Lemon Lime.

Agreed, there are unverifyable facts for a few of the characters, including sections on the height of some of the characters. It lists the height of Gunther Hermann as roughly 6'8" and as Septon mentioned, Anna Navarre at 5'10", none of this data can be verified, it think it should be cleaned up... Non-canonical material, or material relating to characters in other Deus Ex games, such as Invisible War or Human Revolution should not be mentioned. This article should focus on characters as they are depicted in the first Deus Ex game only. Furthermore, there shouldn't be descriptions of characters based on mods. Speculation should also be avoided. Miscellaneous facts such as the height of characters is arguably irrelevant. Material should be referenced and based on the game itself. I plan to edit the article in an attempt to fix these problems. Material relevant to Human Revolution, or Invisible War should be placed in a separate article, especially considering that there is an article on Deus Ex: Invisible War characters.

Fair use rationale for Image:Daedalus(deus ex).jpg

[edit]

Image:Daedalus(deus ex).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair Use Rationales and Tiny American Flags for Everyone!

[edit]

Okay, I've added fair use rationales to all the surviving images in this article. BetacommandMonster ate some of them though. They'll need to be re-uploaded. Clayhalliwell (talk) 20:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

[edit]

As the list of minor characters was deleted, this is now the only list of Deus Ex characters, and it was suggested in the AfD that this be renamed to reflect that. Is there a preference for Deus Ex characters or something like Characters in Deus Ex? Ham Pastrami (talk) 20:40, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

no negative answer for two years - I suggest you go ahead! Mezigue (talk) 12:44, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Walton Simons

[edit]

I think that "Rock, Paper, Shotgun" is incorrect in stating that a name of Warren Spector's friend is Walter Simmons. In many sources, his name appeares just like in the game: Walton Simons. I changed the paragraph and tried to provide a reference link. Not sure if I did it right. Other possible sources:

Paul is not a pacifist

[edit]

Paul's non-violent antics at UNATCO were manipulations and misdirections used to benefit the NSF's cause, it is not that he is a pacifist. He never commands that same level of restraint when J.C. is squaring off with UNATCO or their affiliates. Therefore, it is not ironic that he would defend his life using violent methods against UNATCO. I'm changing his article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.171.44.214 (talk) 04:49, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JC Denton

[edit]

I know the genre dictates most of WHO JC Denton is but shouldn't there be a little section on him, his background and his overall role in the game. For example, the fact that he was "bred" by Versalife or his fabricated parents being assassinated? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.220.100.14 (talk) 01:34, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree that there should be a section about JC Denton with a link to the main article about JC Denton.
