What is this?

[edit]

I read the whole article and I still don't know what the "Disability in the American Community Survey" is. Kendall-K1 (talk) 21:52, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, this reads more like an academic letter or opinion piece that is filled with esoteric details, and thus not appropriate for WP:NOTJOURNAL. Also, the original author AprenderACS appears to be the "C. Siordia" cited 11 times in the references, which could be considered promotion under WP:PROMOTION. @Kendall-K1 & Dmahr - I've tried to clean it up, I removed an entire section that was basically an unsourced POV essay. The article is about how the American Community Survey deals with issues related to disability, but the over-reliance on sources by Siordia is indeed a problem. Perhaps this could be trimmed down and merged into Disability in the United States where it might be useful for improving the "Demographics" section. If AprenderACS is Siordia, that's a problem even if the article is not considered promotional. At the very least he would need to divulge his WP:COI here and on his user page.
I still don't know what this article is about. I'm starting to think there is no survey named "Disability in the American Community." Kendall-K1 (talk) 16:21, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Kendall-K1, you're parsing the phrase incorrectly. There is a survey called the "American Community Survey", one of the topics it covers is disability. This article is about how disability is reported/treated/dealt with in that survey. From what I understand the American Community Survey is, besides the Census, the only regular standardized survey of the entire US population that covers disability in significant detail and depth - hence its importance in the understanding of Disability in the United States. Hope this helps clarify it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:26, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but I'm not in a position to fix this. Can someone with access to the sources take a stab at fixing the lead? Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:34, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

I think this article could be stripped down to the essentials and merged into Disability in the United States#Demographics. As a separate article it is a bit odd as it is basically a discussion of a source, rather than the subject itself. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:57, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Very much agree. I suggest you place the proper templates and start a merge discussion, which I will support. Kendall-K1 (talk) 12:07, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see you already placed the templates. Thank you. Kendall-K1 (talk) 12:10, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think discussion should take place on Talk:Disability in the United States? That's where the template points. Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:17, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
