Massive trimming of book summaries
[edit]I've gutted the book summaries. Sorry for the bother, but the old version was very problematic. First, it was (according to the text) a direct transcription of the back covers of the book. This is arguably a copyright violation, which we try very hard to stay away from. A case could be made for fair use, but we'd need to meet the Wikipedia:Non-free content policy. And ultimately the text wasn't all that compelling. It was marketing copy designed to sell the product. We didn't really need it, so it was highly unlikely to pass the non-free content policy. I've tried to distill out the core claims and keep them. If anyone is familiar with the books and ideally has access to them, please flesh it out and correct any mistakes I may have introduced or repeated. — Alan De Smet | Talk 23:18, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Problem
[edit]I’m removing that the lack of a unified mechanic is a “problem”, as there is no consensus that that is a problem. --Malirath (talk) 13:50, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds reasonable to me. While I believe there are good reasons most new games use unified mechanics, 1) I do not think it was perceived as a problem back in the days 2) the original contributor would need to source his claim anyway. Cheers, CapnZapp (talk) 15:09, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- 3) Who's to say a unified mechanic is necessarily better anyway? It may be easier to play, but it might not be appropriate for all cases. SpaceLem (talk) 12:07, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
what is it ABOUT
[edit]I would think this page would benefit immensely if someone could make it explain what this rpg is actually about? (What kinds of heroes do you play? What kinds of adventures do you have? What kind of world is this Legends world?)
Or is it all utterly generic fantasy?!? ;-) Cheers, CapnZapp (talk) 15:07, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
2009 re-publication
[edit]Could use a new going-over in light of the new publication. I have made mention of it but don't know this game well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by J B Bell (talk • contribs) 05:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I've added a cover image and brief description of the first rulebook for the new publication. I created separate subheadings for the original and re-released series. JohnOAS (talk) 11:19, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Needed links
[edit]I'm the moderator of the long established (10+ years) Dragon Warriors yahoogroup and I've been asked to add a link to this discussion group to WikiPedia. I've also been asked to add links to the Dragon Warriors Wiki, and also to the Dragon Warriors page at the publisher's (Magnum Opus Press) own website. These are the established places on the web for information about these games to be disseminated and while only the website is official, the publisher is well aware of the other two sites and supportive of them, to the extent, they are linked off the publisher's website as well.
XLinkBot reverted my links and I've been reading up on why. I understand the need to protect against vandalism and can appreciate why new users are generally prevented from adding links - but these are legitimate links and as far as I know we don't have anybody qualified to add them, so what do we do?
TheDreadnought (talk) 23:21, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
These links appear to have been re-instated, or appeared eventually one way or another. JohnOAS (talk) 11:22, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
