The article for Einsatzkommando currently refers only to Nazi-era extermination units; the continued use of this term suggests that the term Einsatzcommando has had many other non-Nazi uses, or it would have been quietly edited out of the German language, like other Nazi-era terms. I have a feeling that the Einsatzkommando article is referring to the Einsatzgruppen, rather than this general term. Can someone give a good idiomatic translation of "Einsatzkommando" -- presumably it's something like the English "task force"? -- Karada 12:13, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i also don't understand why WEGA is mentioned in this article. it's a totally different unit. either there should be a distinct article for WEGA, or this one should be renamed to something like "Special forces of the Austrian Police" --84.113.197.47 (talk) 23:28, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

== Putin was not president of Russia in 1996, it was Boris Yeltsin. So if it was Putin who gave them the awards it may be a good idea to say when they were awarded or what position Putin held in the Russian government at the time. ...

contradiction[edit]

The article states: "EKO Cobra was involved in trying to end the OPEC siege led by Carlos (the Jackal) in 1975 [...]". But the article also says that Cobra was founded in 1978. Contradiction? --Vheissu (talk) 07:33, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. Wether the EKO Cobra nor the GEK were involved in the OPEC-case. If the police of Vienna would have had such a force in 1975 the whole story would probably have ended quite different... --Plani (talk) 23:18, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Little bit sloppy language[edit]

This article almost reads like an advert.. but in terms of mere content it seems accurate. Whoever wrote that, let me tell you that literal translations almost always sound "strange" - in this case please don't literally translate "Wiener Einsatzgruppe Alarmabteilung" into English. English speakers get the idea, if you refer to them as an equivalent to e.g. American SWAT teams. 188.22.223.221 (talk) 20:08, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Updating[edit]

The history section of this article needs to be updated to include the recent incident where EKO personnel were involved in a fatal confrontation with an armed man in Austria. I believe the unit themselves sustained at least one fatality. (10/10/2013) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.37.186.94 (talk) 22:08, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is it true that they were deployed to Munich on 22 July 2016? -- AZ English (talk) 07:53, 23 July 2016 (UTC) AZ English (talk) 07:53, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
