The capture of Raqqa as start of the insurgency?

[edit]

Is it an idea to say that the insurgency started on 20 October 2017, when the SDF fully captured Raqqa? It was a pretty definitive moment in the end of ISIL as a state and would signify the start of their insurgency campaign. Furthermore the earliest insurgent attacks currently in the article are from November 2017, right after. I prefer stating a date rather than a general period because the current length of the insurgency campaign can't be shown right now. LyriaSiders (talk) 0:27, 31 January 2019

Eastern Syria insurgency (2017–present)Eastern Syria InsurgencyUnnecessary disambiguation- There really isn't anything else that can be described as "Eastern Syria insurgency". I therefore propose removing the parenthetical disambiguation from this article title. –MJLTalk 03:29, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Generally Support, as there are no other notable insurgencies in Eastern Syria. Also, the "I" in insurgency should be lowercase, as in "Eastern Syria insurgency", not "Eastern Syria Insurgency" RopeTricks (talk) 06:57, 16 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A new page for the late August 2023 tribal clashes in Deir ez-Zor

[edit]

Since a few days ago at the time of writing, there has been a wave of clashes between Arabic tribal militias and SDF forces (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/8/30/several-killed-in-fighting-between-sdf-and-tribesmen-in-eastern-syria). I don't have a good understanding of the situation, but the fighting was apparently sparked by the SDF arresting a militia leader of questionable loyalty for insubordination. Since then, there has been a wave of clashes between rebelling tribal militias and SDF loyalists, and it seems to have killed a minimum of ~22-50+ people. Should we make a separate wikipedia page for these clashes? Randomuser335S (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randomuser335S (talkcontribs) 17:17, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Randomuser335S: I would argue that we should just add it to this page, unless it escalates into a massive conflict. I have already made a small update. Applodion (talk) 17:37, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
