[edit]Hodges was on a 1953 Christmas episode of "The Honeymooners." Is this worth mentioning in the article? The article gives the idea that he suddenly came out of nowhere when he was "discovered" on Name That Tune (along with being cast in The Music Man), and this just was not the case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.114.159 (talk) 09:22, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Modicum??
[edit]"John Glenn who later achieved a modicum of fame"?? First American to orbit the earth being one of his major achievements?? I would say a lot of fame! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.146.0.61 (talk) 10:09, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Years active
[edit]The years active dates for Eddie Hodges are based on his appearance as himself on Name That Tune in 1953 to his appearance in 1999 on Law and Order as a forensic technician in the episode entitled "Homesick".
This appears at several locations. If you have other information, change the dates.

The Name That Tune Appearance was 1953 by all sources. It was his appearance on This Is Your Life that was in 1959. The article is wrong and should be corrected.

New Link to an Article About Eddie Hodges
[edit]I recently added the link to an article I wrote last year about Eddie Hodges. Mr. Hodges read it and was kind enough to email me back and forth for a few months. I found him to be a most intelligent and considerate man; one who actually made something of his life after choosing to leave Hollywood and fame behind him. In my opinion, he is one of the preeminent child/teen entertainers ever, though his name is somewhat obscure now due to his own efforts to avoid the limelight. Update
[edit]This article could use a good update. Seems it needs a lot of references (You might want to start before deletions come along. There are too many "statements of fact" that need citations to survive); there are a large number of links that could/should be made to other articles, as well. I'll try and work on it when I can. trezjr (talk) 01:12, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Citations
[edit]There are numerous statements that I am tagging for references. If they aren't cited in due course, they will have to be removed. This is a biography of a living person, remember; see above. trezjr (talk) 22:21, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Changing Dates Active
[edit]In dates active in the info box, it states that the subject was active until 1996 which is a reference to the IMDB assertion (which several other sources followed) that Mr. Hodges appeared in an episode of Law and Order entitled “Homesick” in a guest appearance in a small part. Although it is true that Mr. Hodges has kept his SAG card active throughout the years, I thought it curious that he would accept a lone, isolated bit part in Los Angeles after having been away from the professional acting venue for so many years in his native hometown in Mississippi. So I did some research.
IMBD has misinformation in its cast information regarding the relevant episode. The actor in the unnamed part is actually “Ed Hodson.” I have a link attesting to the actual name of the actor, but unfortunately it is on Wiki's blacklist for some reason I don't inderstand as it is a site very much like IMDB. (It is ACESHOWBIZ. Insert into Google: “aceshowbiz” “Law and Order” “Homesick”)
In fact, IMDB itself has a page for Ed Hodson in which it lists several Law and Order credits including an appearance as a forensic technician, which is what the relevant part is in “Homesick.”

Even if the subject had made an isolated, bit appearance in 1996, I am not certain that would justify extending his years active to a period twenty-two years after his otherwise final professional appearance in a 1974 movie entitled The Sharp Fists of Kung Fu.
(To tell the truth, I’m somewhat skeptical that Mr. Hodges was in this movie either as it is five years after his last prior performance, a 1969 guest shot on the television series Family Affair. The movie was Chinese made and the cast listing on IMDB and other sites lists only one other non-Chinese name within the cast. Does anyone know for certain? If Mr. Hodges was not in this movie, then his end date for years active should be 1969, though I’ll leave it as 1974 for now until someone can state for certain whether the subject appeared in this move. It doesn’t seem his type of movie, but maybe he was in it.)
Since Mr. Hodges made no such appearance on Law and Order, then there is no doubt that his end date for years active should be changed to 1974 which I shall do presently. I also read where Mr. Hodges himself has written to IMDB in an attempt to correct the misinformation concerning his professional career, but apparently to no avail. If this is true, then apparently IMDB is not all that concerned with accuracy.HistoryBuff14 (talk) 16:32, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
Addendum: As I suspected, the subject himself states that he was not in the 1974 Kung Fu movie and that his 1969 guest appearance on Family Affair was his last “gig.” If no one objects, I shall change his years active ending date to 1969 as it seems a shame to leave up factually inaccurate information within the article. Please advise if anyone does object. Thank you.HistoryBuff14 (talk) 12:48, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
