[edit]A "brilliancy" is a game that won a special 'brilliancy prize' at that tournament; it is not necessarily a brilliant game. For example, if an amateur or scholastic tournament offers a bonus "brilliancy prize" then the game that wins the award will be called a "brilliancy" even it the quality is quite low compared to world-class chess. This is similar to a film winning a "Best Picture" Oscar; whether or not the film is actually the best, it is still referred to as the "Best Picture" regardless of its objective merits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.246.18.14 (talk) 22:17, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
