I just want to point out that the portrait embedded in this article can't possibly be the subject of the article, who lived from 1654 to 1707. It is someone else of the same name. Apart from the fact that the man in the portrait is dressed in clothes of the Regency era, you will find that if you look at the portrait in the largest magnification available (1,805 x 2,500 pixels), it is clearly dated 1827, right under the name of the subject.

The previous commenter has already pointed this out, but unfortunately in a somewhat cryptic way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tenscraze (talkcontribs) 14:07, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Portrait[edit]

I know nothing of this author, nor of the Regency subject of this image --- I only check past biographies to see if such were good Kingsmen --- but obviously the picture is not of anyone living for 1654 to 1707.

Nor is it likely of the disambiguated naturalist, since born in 1816

Finally, if born in Flintshire, he was a Welsh playwright. Claverhouse (talk) 10:57, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
