Requested move
[edit]Einar Tambarskjelvar → Einar Tambarskjelve — Appears to have been created with a spelling which did not then appear in the article itself, and has never since appeared in the article. Furthermore, there wasn't even a redirect from the spelling in the article itself for the first 8 months, until one was added by User:Haukurth. All three interwiki links also spell it "Einar Tambarskjelve". Gene Nygaard 16:56, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Name Change?
[edit]I'd recommend changing this to 'Einarr Thambarskelfir':
Names should be in the nominative singular case as default, which in Old Norse (not modern Icelandic or Norwegian) was Einarr. Einarr is also used elsewhere on wikipedia, for example at Torf-Einarr. Einarr is also frequently used in Academia e.g the recent book on Einarr Skúlason.
Secondly, Norwegian Tambarskjelve is a corruption based on the loss of a 'th' sound, as English retains this sound there is no reason to exclude it from his name. The 'skj' sound is difficult to replicate by a non-Scandinavian speaker and the orthography of the sound is misleading in English. Thambarskelfir is generally a better transliteration of the Old Norse. Thambarskelfir also tends to be used in English academic and historical works for the previously stated reasons. Variant of the name?
[edit]This man is named Einar Paunch-Shaker in the Penguin Classics "King Harald's Saga" translation of 1966. The name Einar Pauch-Shaker also appears in a list for European nobility that does not redirect here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.93.254.128 (talk) 16:58, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Turn of the Tide?
[edit]This section is massively wrong according to the account given by Snorri Sturluson in the King's Harald Saga. Additionally the work referenced not only does not substantiate many of facts stated, as it is clear its author did not read Harald's Saga. Snorri does validate that the murder took place at Nidaros but nothing else. I would quote my own work here, but by Wikipedia standards I'm not a reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.93.254.128 (talk) 18:37, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Einar Tambaskælver (ET) be merged into Einar Thambarskelfir (Eth). The articles are about the same person and it was agreed above that Einar Thambarskelfir is the most appropriate spelling. ET is a stub, an orphan and has no sources, so I recommend Blank ET and Redirect to ETh.TSventon (talk) 12:14, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- ET now redirected to this article, Einar Thambarskelfir. No content added to this article as ET was a stub with no sources.TSventon (talk) 13:31, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
