Overhaul of this Article[edit]

I'm overhauling this article, and have set up the framework to be filled in with the proper information (hence the empty sections). If there is anyone willing to pitch in, that would be great as I am in the area set to be badly affected by Hurricane Sandy in the coming days and will likely be off Wikipedia for that time due to a power outage (if not worse). Politics vs Elections[edit]

"Politics" has become misused in the United States thanks to the media. The media wants everyone to feel "empowered" by listening to their news program. But in a representative government (not a democracy) only the representatives are empowered, no matter how much the media carries on about it. The people can vote every 2 to 4 years. That is pretty much it for "empowerment!"

It is pretty clear what "Elections" are and this article pretty much encompasses "Elections." "Politics" is not what individual voters do, or Politicians talk about. It is what elected officials do, once they are elected. Who dominates the legislature is pure "Elections" (and campaigning, but the latter word is seldom used in Wikipedia article titles and is not misused much).
