I'm curious, are these lenses solid matter or not? Glass, crystal or feilds created by currents or magnatism?

Electrostatic lenses are made from solid matter, so that it can be set to a particular voltage. It is generally made with a thin metal, such as Copper, than can be used in high vacuum without detrimental side effects.

Raman: this article does not have the sufficient information at all.. i was not able to understand the working or an electrostatic lens. i would really appreciate if they'd put a diagram or construction of the lens along wih the article, it will certainly help in understanding it better.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.247.68.75 (talk) 11:44, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
