Naming of article
[edit]Should the article be named Elfin Cars or Elfin Sports Cars. The company seems to have always been named 'Elfin Sports Cars' [1] - Ctbolt 02:25, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Changed. - Ctbolt 02:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
630B
[edit]630B was originally Formula Atlantic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.243.254.204 (talk) 23:57, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Add it in, you have the power. --Falcadore (talk) 00:01, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- But was it one of the 630 cars or another one entirely?61.69.164.231 (talk) 01:43, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think we can assume that the 630B is included in the 630 numbers as the tables in the referenced book do not generally split the models into subtypes, e.g. they show 27 x Type 600s without showing 600B, 600C, 600D etc. GTHO (talk) 22:43, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Page 118 of “Australian Elfin Sports and Racing Cars” tells us that both the 630 & the 630B were Australian Formula 2 cars so I have amended the table accordingly. Both cars were later fitted with BDA engines which would probably explain the confusion. GTHO (talk) 02:34, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Catalina
[edit]Notice the Elfin Catalina does not appear in the model breakdown. How many were made? --Falcadore (talk) 07:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I believe that the Catalina name was applied unofficially to the Formula Junior model after Frank Match won the 1962 Australian Formula Junior Championship at the Catalina Park circuit. Blanden & Cooper list "Formula Junior" but not "Catalina" in both the "Elfin Family Tree" and "Elfin Production Register" tables in their book "Elfin Sports and Racing Cars". When I get a chance in the new year I'll attempt to track down the book and check the text re this. GTHO (talk) 22:14, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Page 23 of “Australian Elfin Sports and Racing Cars” tells us that the Catalina was a variant of the “Formula Junior” model intended for racing outside of the Formula Junior category and that it was grouped with the FJ in the book due to difficulties in differentiating between the two. I have amended the table along these lines. GTHO (talk) 02:29, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Crusader
[edit]No mention of the Elfin Crusader Formula Vee racing car?
Also three Formula Vee's built by Elfin in an intermediate period of ownership that CAMS refuse to recognise as being Elfin for CoD purposes. --Falcadore (talk) 21:02, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Would refute that statement above now as Chassis No.NG EP10 is now C of D'ed as an Elfin. The Crusaders are outside the eligability period for Historic Formula Vee which is up to 85 including run-ons. --chequer57 (talk) 20:46, 14 May 2011 (AEST)
Elfin NG EP Cars
[edit]I notice that GTHO deleted my changes regarding Formula Vee's made in the Edmondson-Porter Era. I will reinstall it and if you want to check these cars exist I suggest you talk to Brain Lear who maintains the Elfin Registrar. The Elfin Heritage Website site seems to gloss over the Vee's from the Edmondson-Porter era (see a copy of the Elfin Registrar I have parked at the http://www.fvee.org.au/Members/hfvaa/ELFIN%20REGISTER%20_22.doc chequer57 (talk) 08:36, 14 May 2011 (AEST)
- Yes, I reversed the changes, as no attempt had been made to amend the reference. Please update the reference to support the change, as we now have a conflict between the article and the existing reference. GTHO (talk) 09:47, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Elfin MR9 F5000
[edit]With respect to the MR9 being "The first open wheel race car to be designed and built in Australia using Ground effect aerodynamics." interested to discuss this as there are at least three other Australian designed and built ground effect cars that I can think of off hand that pre date the MR9. If my recollections are correct then this statement is incorrect.
Discussion?

Assessment comment
[edit]The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Elfin Sports Cars/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
Start class due to limited info, references but has templates as a car manuracturer and for their models. Low importance as people would be more interested in their current models, the MS8 Streamliner and the MS8 Clubman. So this page would be less important than the two models which are going to be no higher than 'Mid'. |
