Expansion
[edit]I will work over time to expand and improve this article. To start with, his still lifes were not fastidiously painted, anything but. Because he was influenced by Chardin, they were Tonalist in nature, low-key, atmospheric depictions of what he saw. Carlsen was an important American artist and deserves more.
