Some sources say Dott founded AH in 1949 with Charles S. Roberts. This sounds ludicrous to me, but there it is: [1] Of course, AH did not exist in 1949, most sources say 1952, the year Tactics was published. Does anyone have other information about these earliest days of Dott and Roberts? In 1952, Roberts would have been about 22, and Dott about 25. Did Monarch even exist in 1949, when Dott was 22 years old? -- GreenC 04:54, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This source [2] says Eric "joined the firm" in 1963. This looks to be in reference when Roberts left the firm and Dott took over. -- GreenC 04:56, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This source gives more clarity. Interestingly, it says Tactics was produced and distributed through Stackpole Company ie. Stackpole Books in PA. There is no mention of Stackpole anywhere on Wikipedia, in relation to AH, Charles S. Roberts or Tactics. The story as generally told it was done by Roberts out of his garage. Hmm.. -- GreenC 14:01, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This source has more clarity, he did work from his garage/basement but used Stackpole for distribution. Interestingly it says the game was "printed by a commercial firm", but does not say it who that was (Dott?). In terms of dates, this page says he began work on the design in 1952, and the other links says it was first published in 1954. -- GreenC 14:51, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
