Bulgaria

According to this article, BNT is not on the list for now source. Yoyo360 (talk) 16:16, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

Maps

Hi!

I'm an editor of the Hungarian Wikipedia. In our articles about the Eurovision competitions we use the maps at the end of the articles and in 600px resolution. But the maps that are in the Commons have a big Australia map in the upper right corner and that looks very bad in 600px resolution.

That's why I've made my own versions of these maps with a smaller map of Australia in the bottom right corner (for example: [1]). But there's an another editor in the Hungarian Wikipedia who doesn't want to see my maps in the articles and I don't want to see the maps with the bigger map of Australia.

Could you give me some advice how to solve this problem?

@D97v: Why have you gone against a decision that was previously opposed after you raised the issue at Talk:Eurovision Song Contest 2016/Archive 3#Map of Australia? It was noted that you are allowed to upload files exclusively for Hungarian Wikipedia use at hu:Speciális:Feltöltés, something which you said you were going to do. The fact you have moved the map to the bottom left corner and made it smaller has caused an issue with the links. Each country has a link attached to them so that when someone clicks any country within the map, it will direct them to the country in Eurovision article. Australia no longer has this function, because you moved the map. I would urge the map to be reverted and Australia positioned back in its original location so that the link function is restored. • Also if someone opposed your actions on Hungarian Wiki, then that does not give you the right to go against consensus that was reached over there. Kaliopi

I see that someone has added that Kaliopi will represent Macedonia again. And even though she has confirmed it at her Facebook account I am not sure if posting it before a more formal confirmation is appropriate. She is not the first singer to announce this as then it turns out to be incorrect or she participates as a songwriter or whatever. I want more input on this. Closure of BBC Three and UK broadcast of semi-finals

Has there been any information with regards to BBC broadcast of the semi-finals which normally is on BBC Three, a channel due to close in February 2016.Lacunae (talk) 16:50, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

@Lacunae: BBC three is not closing down, it is moving from terrestrial broadcasting to online broadcasting. We cannot speculate what will happen, as the BBC will most likely know what they are doing. They could either move the semis to BBC 2, or via their red button service and simulcast with BBC Three (online). Wes Mouse ✒ 15:46, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Portuguese Withdraw

RTP (Portuguese State Television) announced that Portugal would withdraw due to lack of funds and to prepare a solid participation in 2017, but as stated in the introduction: "Portugal have withdrawn, however, largely due to their national broadcaster's insufficient promotion of their music-based media, as well as a poorly structured selection process." However it might be true, this statement is purely a personal opinion since there is no sources of any kind about the subject and Wikipedia shouldn't have this content which is pure speculation. I'm not following very closely this page, but shouldn't we delete this kind of information or, at the very least, try to find independent sources that confirm it (and state it as an opinion of some expert and not as an absolute true)? - Sarilho1 (talk) 22:19, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

@Sarilho1: the citation to verify it is within the main body of the article under the 'other countries' section. Per WP:CITELEAD we follow the guidelines of not adding citations in the lead or infobox, as those sections are summarising what is written in the main article body. Iceland - Language

Iceland's song has been listed as will be performed in Icelandic but this has not been confirmed. The Icelandic songs will have to be performed in Icelandic at the national selection semi-finals and of the artists own choice in the final (Which in the end will be the version for the Eurovisiom) but for now no language decision has been made — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.0.236.86 (talk) 13:49, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Two presenters for the first time since 2009?

Under Presenters it says the 2016 Contest will be the first Contest with two presenters since the 2009 Contest.

While the final of the 2009 Contest in Moscow had two presenters there were two different presenters in the semi-finals i.e. Andrey Mahalov and Natalia Vodianova in the semi-finals and Alsou and Ivan Urgant in the final

2 * 2 == 4, my view on it is there were four presenters of the Contest, not two.

Albania's Song - language

Wouldn't be better if just remove the language of the song until further details and use the current reference to the song. Since it doesn't state that the song will be in English or Albanian, just an expectation. - Sarilho1 (talk) 00:09, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

The song we have now is in Albanian, it was not 100% confirmed that the song in Stockholm will be in English. Eneda has stated that she expects the song will end up in English but does not give a 100% confirmation (ie: the song WILL be in English). As she also stated, the song will be reworked in the coming months, and until we have that 100% confirmation the language should remain as Albanian. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 01:38, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Standard practice and procedure in the past when it comes to Albania, has been to leave the language data as Albanian until a reliable source provides 110% confirmation that the song will be reworked into a different language; at which point the information would then be updated. I wanted you to know that if Oikotimes isn't reliable, then Wiwibloggs isn't too. Indeed, this interview is totally real and I don't think that Edoardo Grassi would allow anyone to lie on something/someone and create(imagine) a false interview !

• @Wikays: Oikotimes are only semi reliable and can only be used if their published news also cites where they obtained it from. They have in the past published news that was later determined to be false and unreliable, because the false news was published by a registered member of the website. Oikotimes is a bit like Wikipedia, in that anyone can register a profile with them and then post news as a volunteer editor. @Wikays: stating something is true does not in fact make it 100% truth. For example, if I were to say that I am actually an alien from Mars and that my word is truth, would you believe it? Truth needs to be verified. If the published source states where they obtained the information from, then it can be verified and therefore be truth. Language

In this reference writes: The song is going to be sung in the language of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnian mainly used by Bosniaks, this year's representatives are not only Bosniaks. Bosnia and Herzegovina's constitution does not specify any official languages. Dayton Agreement states that it is done in Bosnian, Croatian, English and Serbian, and many describe this as the de facto recognition of three official languages at the state level. The equal status of Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian was verified by the Constitutional Court in 2000. To sing Chameleon or not to sing Chameleon?

A user added a note to the Maltese representative's listing in Semi-final 1 explaining that Chameleon may not be the song that is sung by Ira Losco in Stockholm.

My edit summary wouldn't submit, but I removed the information because it is expected that she will sing Chameleon in Stockholm, in a similar vein to Albanian representative Eneda Tarifa and whether she will sing in Albanian or English, or last year when Albanian representative Elhaida Dani when Diell was withdrawn to be replaced by I'm Alive.

If there is any change before the contest then it can be updated in the meantime, similar to the change of song for Albania as alluded to above.

I also suggest that the information about Malta Eurovision Song Contest choosing the artist and not necessarily the song should be added to Malta's own participation if it is felt it should be anywhere.

Indeed Pickette is correct here. We had a similar scenario last year, Bearnard O'Riain., with the Maltese entry and the potential of the song title being changed. What we did was add more in-depth information onto the Maltese article, and a footnote to the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 article, until a decision either way in regards to the song title was reached (see this example). That would be why a footnote was added to this article providing brief summary on the fact the song title maybe subject to change along with a source to verify the fact. All that complies with WP:V. Clause 14 in the regulations for the 2016 Malta Eurovision Song Contest allow for the song to be amended or changed, therefore, "Chameleon" may not end up being the song representing Malta in Stockholm. "PBS reserve the right to amend adapt or change the winning song.
