Felixstowe Pier Station
[edit]There appears to have been a 'Felixstowe Pier Station' at some time in the past. Certainly to Felixstowe railway station article references it but it doesn't appear in the diagram. Does anyone have any reference to where it fits into the diagram? Presumably below Felixstowe beach railway station but was it on the line that now goes through the docks or on its own branch? smyles (talk) 21:12, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- This 1940's OS map clearly shows the line going to the old pier via Felixstowe Beach station. From aerial photography it looks as though that line is still used and that a new spur has been added since. It also appears that the old pier station was in about the position of the current station called Felixstowe Langard. PeterEastern (talk) 22:24, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Extent of the line?
[edit]Should the line diagram really show the branch line reaching Ipswich, or should it end at the Westerfield Junction where it meets the East Suffolk Line? Historically the Westerfield to Felixstowe section was built 18 years after the main Ipswich-Great Yarmouth section which reinforces this view. It would also be more consistent with other branch lines where the diagram ends where it meeting the main line. I will trim the route diagram in about a week unless there is enthusiasm to keep it as it is! PeterEastern (talk) 11:25, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

class 121
[edit]Did any of these work the branch? They did the Sudbury branch apparently so it is feasible they managed the Felixstowe line as well.--Davidvaughanwells (talk) 13:57, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- I find it unlikely that Class 121 DMUs worked either this branch or that to Sudbury. Michael Palin: Around the World in 80 Days was made no later than November 1989, at which time all the Class 121s were still in their old haunts: most were based at Reading for the short branch lines sprinkled between London Paddington and Reading, also the stopping trains out as far as Banbury; a few were at Tyseley for use in the Birmingham area, such as the Leamington Spa-Stratford upon Avon service and the Stourbridge branch; and one was at Laira, for use on Cornish branches.
