Definition in Lead
[edit]What about delivering the aircraft to its new owner? Isn't this often done by third-party pilots? I'm pretty certian many aircraft in WW2 were delivered to the UK this way. - BilCat (talk) 22:23, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- I think "flights to move an aircraft from one base of operations to another" would cover that, but that definition is the only one I have been able to source, if you have another ref that adds to this then by all means add it! - Ahunt (talk) 23:15, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Actually the definition of a ferry flight is to deliver an aircraft to wherever it is needed, as opposed to an operational flight. So it would be better to make that clear in the opening line, that it is essentially a delivery flight, of either a new or repaired aircraft to its operator or customer, or of an aircraft from an operator to a maintenance centre for maintenance or repairs. The point is that it is essentially just a movement of the aircraft from one location to another, as opposed to a flight where it is being used for its particular intended purpose. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.40.253.254 (talk) 11:45, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Good point! I have added some wording to that effect - see if that is an improvement! - Ahunt (talk) 14:49, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks! - that's fine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.40.254.24 (talk) 17:53, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
