I agree that the order is somewhat odd for the audio release. But there isn't a conventionally defined list. Hunting around the house, I've found several listing orders:

1. Order used in ENO opera guide No. 4 at front of libretto, also on back cover of DG/Bernstein box and in booklet, cover of Brilliant Classics Leonore Fidelio double box plus in front of both libretti and on sleeves of Leonore discs, both operas in Cascade complete Beethoven box.

So the only two orders I've found with support from more than one source either have Don Fernando or Jaquino first neither of which I would consider one of the four most significant roles. If I was going by size of role, I probably would go for Leonore, Rocco, Pizarro, and Florestan, Jaquino, Marzelline, Fernando which none of these sources back.--Peter cohen (talk) 22:21, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Info dumping

This is the worst case I've seen for a while of dumping of half-finished information. Please complete these lists in your own userspace before posting or don't add it at all - it's a huge disservice to the reader! --Kleinzach 00:18, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I agree that this was a mess (and still is), since the cast's names were listed in what seemed like an arbitrary order, if at all, and often did not correspond to the chacters' names above.

But creating a box from the mess which existed - go back and take a look at it - seemed to be a way to start, so that it would become obvious what was missing.... I don't have a list of recordings handy, but, with some research, it would not be impossbie to flesh out quite a few of them. I Wikified a number of names, one of which appeared as simply "Jones-G". This was all done by one editor in September — no one else is to blame! Guessing the names is the easy part, the problem is knowing who sang Rocco and who sang Pizarro! All the casts can be checked on the net of course, it just takes a long, long time. --Kleinzach 00:51, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
