Actually Finland did not use the Russian flag. In the opening ceremonies Finnish athletes marched under the flag of Swedish Women Gymnastic club of Helsinki. --SM (talk) 15:13, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

I fotboll t ex slog Finland Ryssland med 2-1 och när det segrande lagets flagga skulle hissas var det således den ryska som gick i topp. För att undvika misstag fick man då lägga till en skylt med texten "Finland segrade". I fortsättningen löste man problemet med att hissa en blåvit vimpel direkt under den ryska flaggan." - "A blue-white pennant was hoisted beneath the Russian flag", to distinguish Finland from Russia.
