Treasurer Southampton and Lord Ashley to Sir Christopher Clapham, one of the Justices of Peace of co. Lincoln, forwarding affidavits for his perusal (and to be commanicated to Francis Wingfeild, another of the Justices of the said county) to "show you what cause wee had to have had recourse to some extremity in vindication of His Majesties revenue which layes under our charge. But having receaved your letter and having very good inclinations to beleive better of you wee declyned sending for you by a messenger, which had been our duty to have done." Direct them forthwith to attend the Treasury upon this complaint.
