DVD
[edit]Why, WHY isn’t this show out on DVD. At 22 episodes the complete show could be in one set. While some awful shows are on DVD months after they are canceled, I am confounded as to why this gem has been ignored.
I too am amazed that this show is not out on DVD. I fondly remember it and would jump at the chance to buy it. And why isn`t it in reruns? I agree 100% with who ever wrote the above paragraph. Any one who saw the show understands. Frank Rivera 03/03/06
Could somebody figure out an address of the people who have the rights to Franks Place so us fans could write them and beg it's release?
- This blog [1] says Paramount owns the rights. J. Van Meter 00:40, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
This show was described to protray southern black culture accurately. What it really portrayed was New Orleans culture in the 70's and 80's.
Probably one of the top five best tv shows of all time! Great characters that were multi-dimensional, storylines and dialogue that did not overly simplify and insult the viewers intelligence, as most sit-coms do, and exemplary acting. I miss this show, and always mention it in any "favorite show" conversation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.60.142.230 (talk) 03:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
This was an AMAZING show. Way too good for television (sadly). Reid, and all concerned with it should be proud of the accomplishment. 20 years later...and it still stands up as a milestone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.67.104.4 (talk) 18:11, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
The reason why Frank's Place is not going to be released on DVD anytime soon. From Oct. 6, 2008, CNN.com/Entertainment Marquee Blog with Showbiz Tonight article: Not coming to a store near you. The reason Frank's Place is not going to be released on DVD in the forseeable future is because of the background music the show used when it first aired. They would have to pay a lot of people a great deal of money to include the music on the DVD, or leave it out, which would alter the original impact it had on the show. They had the same problem with another Tim Reid series; WKRP in Cinninati when it came out on DVD. They had to leave out a lot of music and it changed the overall feel of the episodes. CBS treated Frank's Place very badly when it was on television. They bounced it all over the schedule until the viewer got tired of trying to find it, and then the network cancelled it because of "poor ratings". 204.80.61.110 (talk) 18:27, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Bennett Turk
