Fair use rationale for Image:Freedom wham.jpg[edit]

Image:Freedom wham.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Sales?[edit]

This article states that it is the lowest selling of their 4 UK No.1s. Are you sure about that? I would have guessed it was "The Edge of Heaven", which was released at a much lower selling period (1984 being one of the biggest selling years ever). Again, I'm not sure, but if the statement is true then it needs a reference.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 23:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Got the info - Freedom sold around 740,000, Edge of Heaven sold around 370,000. Slightly off there then - I'll remove it. I don't have a proper citation, but it could hardly be that inaccurate! In fact, Freedom sold more than Wake Me up - since they were No.10 and 11 in the year respectively.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 13:16, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No video?[edit]

George Michael once said he was proud to see this song reach # 1 in the UK without the support of a music video. The video, with footage from the China tour, supposedly came later. If this is true, this might be the last song to do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.69.92.189 (talk) 10:13, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help with reference?[edit]

I added the Maxell commercial info some time ago, after seeing a clip on YouTube - but I really don't know how this should be referenced properly. Here's the clip - which also includes a similar treatment of Young Guns, btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdCs2K_ZEpU&feature=PlayList&p=95642F5139D10AE2&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=10 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.34.136.240 (talk) 10:36, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Freedom is a George Michael song and Careless Whisper is a Wham! song. I have the George Michael CD. That's my reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.61.48.123 (talk) 22:05, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're thinking of Freedom! '90. Jim Michael (talk) 22:14, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Freedom was a hit in 1985, not 1984 as stated. It peaked in late summer of 1985 in the United States. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.61.131.27 (talk) 03:30, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Except Wham! were a UK act - were you not aware of that?--Tuzapicabit (talk) 01:37, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article reads: The lyrics are full of the turmoil one experiences of staying in a destructive relationship where one partner loves another more than the other "part-time love just brings me down" and the inevitable hurt this causes. A situation that Michael finally appears to resolve in the song 'Faith' where he is building the confidence to meet someone new and get the 'freedom' he has been dreaming of.

1) Bad grammar. 2) Sounds like a fan reading, what does this song have to do with the song Faith? Is there any evidence of this? ""part-time love just brings me down" and the inevitable hurt this causes." is just bad grammar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.151.160.219 (talk) 17:50, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Easier to remove the offending statement rather than tagging as I have just done, but yes, you had a point.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 01:36, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
