Notability claims[edit]

This article is based solely on the subject's web site and not on independent, reliable sources. The claims that this organisation has 50,000 members is not confirmed. Ecoleetage (talk) 18:57, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is notable because they sponsor the Friends of Coal Bowl, a notable college sports event (this certainly gets the article off the CSD list). They are also active in politics and defense of the American coal industry.
My POV/COI disclaimer: I'm not a fan of coal, and I'm not involved in the coal industry or coal politics. I just find this group compelling, and thought it was weird that the FOC Bowl has an entry but there was no wiki entry for FOC itself.
I've given a few refs from news stories external to the FOC website. Tedder (talk) 19:35, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

News stories that need to be integrated[edit]

Two links I didn't integrate yet: [1] [2] Tedder (talk) 19:37, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have expanded the article, properly identifying the organisation's parent company and its marekting and political activities. Ecoleetage (talk) 21:58, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added some more information on the group. I did this as part of a college project. Some of the information I added may be controversial, but I wanted to try and add information about both views of Friends of Coal.Juliebrooks1 (talk) 19:22, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
