Screenshot[edit]

I've uploaded a screenshot of the site's front page here, but I'm slightly reluctant to use it for two reasons: first, it's very long, and second, it contains my name ("Welcome, Josiah Rowe") at the top. Would it be appropriate to obscure that using some image editing software? If so, could someone else do so, as I have no skills in that department? Thanks. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 05:34, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Steven Moffatt[edit]

He was a member of the Outpost Gallifrey forum - did he move over to Gallifrey Base? If so, worth a mention.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 02:48, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, my understanding (which is based solely on hearsay, not any reliable sources) is that when OG closed Moffat took it as an opportunity to take a step back from internet fandom, so that it wouldn't influence his work as showrunner. As far as I know, he's not a member of GB. Of course, it's always possible that he's got a pseudonymous account for lurking, but there's no evidence to support that. All we know for certain is the detail from the Sun-Times interview that he advised Matt Smith not to read the forum. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 03:29, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I'm actually not surprised, but it's a shame nonetheless. Although he didn't post too often it was always interesting to hear what one of the chief writers of the show had to say!--Pawnkingthree (talk) 11:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just disappointed that his old posts on Outpost Gallifrey are now lost to the ether! —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 14:14, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly speaking, not completely accurate. Towards the end of it's days control of Outpost Galifrey was supposed to transition from Shaun Lyon to Steve Hill. Though the url was still Outpost Galifrey the forum Steven Moffat was a member of became known as The Doctor Who Forum and, not many months after the screen grab provided*, the url (as well as the sites name) changed to doctorwhoforum.com (The Doctor Who Forum or DWF). Steve Hill was supposed to have full executive control at this point however Sean Lyon simply wasn't stepping down, essentially stymieing Hills attempts at administering and reforming the site. Steven Moffat himself remained an active member throughout this transition period under his own name, stepping down from active online participation on April 10th, 2008 well after OG formally became the DWF and before GB. The DWF formally became Galifrey Base 13 June 13th the following year.
As to lurking under pseudonyms, no. Steven Moffat directly never did this nor had reason to. There are and remain any number of professional friends, colleagues and associates who could keep Moffat appraised of goings on at the site, including (but not exclusive to) current show runner Chris Chibnall and Sherlock writing and production partner Mark Gatis - given the circumstances under which he (Moffat) left it's unlikely Steven Moffat himself ever directly re-signed up as an anonymous member or, for that matter, would voluntarily countenance the idea of doing that.
