[edit]The latest CD of the English band Chumbawamba ("The boy bands have won") contains a song about Gary Tyler: "Waiting for the bus". Shouldn't that be pointed at in the article, too? See the Chumbawamba- Homepage: http://www.chumba.com/lyrics23.html 91.2.199.133 (talk) 17:33, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Blanco pardon information is inaccurate - According to Bob Herbert (NYT), Tyler has not applied for a pardon during Blanco's administration. His lawyers are considering another alternative. Transcript is here: http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=07/03/01/1429239#transcript
NOTE: it states that the NY Times article caused many prominent figures to appeal to Blanco and she did nothing in response to their pleas. It doesn't state anything about Tyler's appeal after 32 years of imprisonment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.23.128.174 (talk) 21:33, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- Based on the Amnesty International pdf (11/16/2007), which explained that the LA Pardon Board had to recommend commutation to a specific # of years before the governor could grant clemency, I edited and changed the text to conform to this sourced information. As of Nov. 2007, the Pardon Board had not performed that function, although officials at the prison recommended a pardon. It is unclear if the Pardon Board completed their part of gaining executive clemency for Tyler from the governor. I will also look for other sources.Parkwells (talk) 14:48, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
