Keep the Ali fans out

I've deleted a few things which were thinly vieled celebrations of Ali. There was mentions of his wins over Norton and Frazier after his initial losses which don't seem relevent to the article as well as the scorecards for their fights. Also someone added that Norton broke Ali's Jaw in the 15th. Ferdie Pacheco has said it was the second round and Norton himself believes it was the 12th. Regardless it wasn't relevent to the George Foreman bio and it can't be correctly cited anyway.

Names and fathers?

I quote from a post to Usenet:

Rampant fingerprint rumour

Editors: Beware and keep a watchful eye on this fingerprint hoax. A rumour was deliberatly started on air during the 10 January 2006 edition of "Ross And Terri" broadcast on Australian Radio station Triple J. The broadcast can be downloaded here: [[1]] and the reference is found roughly twelve and a half minutes in.

"Pound for pound, the greatest heavyweight"

Hello,

Don't you think that this phrase in a passage of the article is contradictory? We usually put "pound for pound" expression to compare a boxer with fellows of different categories. For instance, Robinson was the greatest pound for pound boxer of history - just an example for the sake of explanation :). Thus, saying that Foreman was "pound for pound, the greatest heavyweight" is incorrect. We should rather say "pound for pound, the greatest boxer" etc...

I agree. Its either pound for pound the best over all weights or the best at any given wieght, so pound for pound the best heavyweight is incorrect. --LiamE 09:23, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Big George Grill

It does remove a little more fat than the normal grill because it heats up slower. What happens is the fat has more time to seep out because this grill does not sear the fat in like conventional grills. This is shown in Good Eats, Episode EA1E12, "Scrap Iron Chef". After Alton Brown makes bacon from scratch, he bakes the bacon in the oven. He places the strips of bacon onto a sheet pan fitted with a rack, then places that into a cold oven. He turns the oven to 400 degrees F, then explains if you want the bacon to be less lean, to preheat the oven instead. He explains that allowing the oven to preheat with the bacon in gives the fat more time to cook out. So the grill does cook leaner because it takes the meat longer to heat up than over a hot flame. --JRTyner 07:58, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Should it not be mentioned somewhere that he has 5 daughters and 5 sons called george foreman?

I think it's worth mentioning. The article doesn't seem to mention much about his personal life, and I don't remember seeing any mention of his children. Lee-mei 19:14, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

is there anything on how his children turned out? It might be interesting to have a section about the psychological damages that come from having four other brothers named the same thing as you.

George's first book has some discussion of this issue and I will will add it to the article. The article in general has a negative bias toward Foreman's ring opponents and record. Statements of opinion regarding quality are not appropriate.

Oldest heavyweight champion

I thought I ought to bump this, as the article lead now suggests that Bernard Hopkins is the oldest titleholder in any weight class. Cleanup Sept 2008

The early life section (and possibly others) needs review. I know the bit about the fingerprints is vandalism but the rest could also be false and I don't know enough about George Foreman to make any judgements on what stays and what goes. I am also unsure about how old the notice incorrectly placed at the top of the talk page is, but there are claims that the grill reduces fat. This means that it can be included in the article even if the company that makes the grills doesn't provide any evidence, it just can't be listed as proven. - 67.166.132.47 (talk) 21:29, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Knockout Cleaning Solutions mention?

Nowhere does the article mention a cleaning solution; which comes in all sorts of application uses, automotive (wheels, rims, tires, windshields, bug remover, windshield cleaner, polisher), as well as all-purpose cleaners for use throughout the home. Was just curious, is the product just too new? I was amazed when I saw it at a Family Dollar store yesterday, when I looked it up, it appears they primarily sell it through "Dollar General" stores though.....but Family Dollar could have gotten it through other distribution means, since they are a discount store. Just thought I'd mention it. I was kind of hesitant on using it, due to the use of 2-butoxy ethanol in most other "concentrated, natural, cleaning products" - but couldn't find a thorough MSDS for these products which would indicate whether or not this chemical is used in it or not. Conflict with Rumble in the Jungle

The main article doesn't mention that George stumbled and wasn't knocked down, and this one doesn't have any citation for that. This one says that the neck-press should have been penalized, but this also isn't cited or mentioned in the main article. I'm not saying that these items should be removed, but that they should be cited and added to the main article if true.

In general, this version is more slanted towards Foreman's POV, so this should also be addressed. --Slashme (talk) 16:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Off the top of my head, I know that Ali's hanging on the head was monitored strictly in his third fight with Frazier, but the solution was merely for the referee to pull his hands off if it lasted more than a moment and didn't involve a penalty.74.111.119.180 (talk) 04:46, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Foreman has 11 children, and each of his six sons is named George: George Jr., George III, George IV, George V, Keenen and George VI.

Weather Conditions

I think the heat and humidity played a big part in the Rumble in the Jungle. It allowed the Rope a Dope to be successful.
