The Scottish Leaving Certificate

I have included the ODNB's statement that Macdonald established the Scottish Leaving Certificate examination. However, the Wikipedia article on the SLC links to a source that appears to make it clear that the first of the examinations took place in 1888, and therefore Macdonald could not have been involved. It did go on to evolve so he may have been responsible for some of the later changes. Tacyarg (talk) 23:40, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
