Untitled[edit]

My name is Craig Wiliam Rex, born in South Africa and now living in England. While living in South Africa I was contacted by a TV company called Tigress Productions and asked whether I was a descendant of George Rex of Knysna and I had to prove it, which I did as I have the various Rex books, handed down to me by my father, Wentworth Harvie Rex. When we filmed this documentary in Knysna, South Africa in 2002 with Tigress Productions I had to do DNA tests (cheek swabs) to see if we matched the 'royal marker' they had. This was also going to be aired around the Queen's Jubilee, etc, and made mention to the production team that this was "not politically correct" and that no matter what the outcome of these DNA tests, they would prove negative - try changing the course of history and the embarrassment to the Royal establishment if these tests were positive. Just by the way I was never advised what my DNA was vs the marker or given my DNA info!

As you maybe aware there are numerous books written about King George lll and Hannah Lightfoot and their "illegitimate" son George Rex who was the founder and proprietor of Knysna. I am the 5th generation to George Rex of Knysna.

An interesting exercise would be to try and find Hannah's grave (which they have been trying to find for centuries with no luck!) The marriage certificates of Hannah and King George lll should be somewhere in the archives at Windsor Castle where the royal archives are kept, but again they'll probably won't be available.

Queen Elizabeth 11 had to approve the Tigress Production of this TV documentary called Real King & Queen TV documentary that we were involved in 2002, also, that there was a marker (whether this marker was genuine or not we will not know for sure).

As true gossip has it, there were lots of shananigans between the princes and princesses over the centuries; were there condoms in those days - nudge, nudge, wink, wink?? So you may even have some 'Blue Blood' running in your veins....! but if you find any more interesting information that can get us all into Buckingham Palace for a Gin and Tonic or 2, let me know......

Disproved[edit]

Further to the above, how exactly were they disproved? What exactly is the "Royal marker"? This article reads like POV and OR. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.245.159.105 (talk) 10:55, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There may be a problem here.[edit]

It appears to me that we're talking about two different George Rex's. if you read the description of George Rex Genealogy, ot says G.R. Moved to Pennsylvania and had 12 children with a wife. The birth year is different by 15 years. I think the person talked about in this article is different from the one in the 'Royal Blood' portion. Anyone want to confirm that?

EDIT: Not sure whats with the books description, but it does appear that the Wikipedia article is right after further investigation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1009:B157:F8AC:C4C5:5A50:7BBB:B13F (talk) 18:37, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Two Different George Rex's[edit]

Hello, 8th generation direct descendant of George Rex here, from the USA. I've stumbled upon on issue regarding which I cannot find any information. If anyone has read The George Rex Genealogy that book refers to George Rex, the rumored first son of George III and Hannah Lightfoot, who lived in America and had a wife and children here. This Wikipedia article, as well as a very informative documentary made by the late Kennith Griffith, a recording of which can be found on youtube, discusses George Rex, rumored first son of GIII and HL, who lived in Knysna, and had different children, a different partner, and a different life altogether. After GR's birth, there seems to be two different people entirely based on who you ask. Both stories come from credible sources in my opinion, and here's the kicker: the book has a picture of George Rex's grave, in Pennsylvania if I recall correctly, whereas the documentary has KG standing next to the grave of George Rex in Knysna, South Africa! If anyone has insight into what this is all about, it would be much appreciated. Please feel free to post any info here as I will check back from time to time. Thanks all! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A000:1300:C6B7:8427:AC3C:3629:79A2 (talk) 02:43, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
