Gerard Parkin is a pioneer in the field of inorganic/organometallic chemistry. His work includes fundamental chemical studies aimed at a greater understanding within the field (such as terminal chalcogenido compounds, retrodative bonding, zinc in biology), as well as more practical investigations towards industrial processes(antimony alkoxides and polyethylene terepthalate, catalysts for hydrodenitrogenation/hydrodesulfurization to make cleaner fuels). He is a well-respected part of the organometallic community, whose contributions are diversified and significant.
