Untitled[edit]

why : does this article make no mention of how creepy the guy is? I'm not pointing out this out to be pejorative, but to describe Haynes as a musician and painter would be like to describe Paris Hilton as an actress. In the case of Haynes, discussing his career is like discussing Lorena Bobbit's career prior to her famous incident.

I : like this better:

"Gibby : Haynes is a creepy, creepy guy who occasionally sings and paints stuff. He has never declined an invite to a party since 1977, and has not once attended a party that he didn't get kicked out of. He's has personally gotten 30% of Hollywood Celebrities hooked on heroin. His antics will still be discussed 20 years after he's dead and no one will ever have the full story. Even creepy guys like Al Jourgensen find Haynes to be creepy.

In : his early life, Haynes played basketball and studied accounting."

Response to "Untitled" (and unsigned... tsk tsk)

If you're still around, I've got your answer... The reasons this article makes no such statements are because a) it is a WP:BLP biography of a living person and everything in it must be referenced by third party sources, b) opinions are non-encyclopedic and have no place here, c) you just couldn't be more wrong about this mischievous artist's talents... you just don't get his "thing"--and that's fine--it isn't for everyone (but, see how I took my personal opinion to the discussion page and NOT the article?), and finally, d) unsubstantiated accusations of criminal activity are highly inappropriate, especially in this medium! I must follow my own advice and AGF assume good faith on your part, but you've used rather inflammatory language (some would call it "libel"...) Please don't use Wikipedia as a place to slander people, it weakens the common goal of creating encyclopedic resources, and could even result in legal action against you, if the subject finds out and is litigious! This whole article could be much, much more verbose. Gibby Haynes is an important staple in freak/experimental/hardcore music, and the Butthole Surfers influenced countless amounts of bands and musicians. He's either in, or mentioned in tons of documentaries. The Flaming Lips doc, a Sublime interview on "Everything Under the Sun", and the documentary on Daniel Johnston come to mind, but I know there are others. He was also in the rehab center Kurt Cobain was in, and escaped from.
