Goody's Family Clothing[edit]

I am not sure how to find out, but Goody's is still in business. I think they got bought out by Stage Stores, INC. Goody's is NOT defunct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.93.100.182 (talk) 23:50, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Locations of reopened stores[edit]

The listing of reopened stores is not relevant to an encyclopedia entry on Goody's. Additionally, the locations listed are not supported by the citation given. Eastshire (talk) 20:32, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

The result of the proposal was Retailer moved to Goody's (store); restaurant moved to Goody's (restaurant), dab page for Goody's created. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 03:58, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Goody's Family ClothingGoody'sRelisted. A case needs to be made to replace the article at the primary name space. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:15, 12 July 2011 (UTC) Page stats show that Goody's and Goody's Family Clothing get roughly the same amount of hits per day, but Goody's Family Clothing has far more incoming links than the 10 incoming links for Goody's. I would bet anything that most of the hits at Goody's are by people actually looking for the retailer since the numbers are so close. Also, the WP:COMMONNAME for the store is just "Goody's", not "Goody's Family Clothing". I have every reason to believe that the retailer should be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, as it has far more incoming links, and the restaurant page moved to Goody's (restaurant). • Comment this is a malformed multimove request. 65.93.15.213 (talk) 04:02, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the clothing chain is a larger company than the food chain; I'm sure most people are searching for this page. --Caldorwards4 (talk) 05:27, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Based on what I can see, I think between the Family Clothing store, the Restaruant, and the analgesic that there is close enough possibility to reserve the namespace for a disambiguation page bootstrapped with the content from the Goody DAB page. Hasteur (talk) 19:40, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Really? What I'm saying is keep this where it's located. Move the restaurant to Goody's (Restaurant), and create a disambiguation page at the Goody's page that is a splice of the data from the Goody disambiguation page (specifically the "Goody's" section). Hasteur (talk) 19:52, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • But you're missing the point. "Goody's Family Clothing" is not the WP:COMMONNAME for the retailer; it's called just "Goody's". The page for the retail store must be at something with just "Goody's" in it, no "Family Clothing". • I have no problem with renaming this article, but for this one to take the primary slot for the Wikipedia name is, in my viewpoint, inappropriate. Please keep the conversation here and not cross posting your viewpoint to my talk page. Hasteur (talk) 20:05, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - I came here after seeing the thread at WP:AN. I agree with Hasteur. Goody's should be a disambiguation page. Rename the two entries to Goody's (restaurant) and Goody's (retailer). If "family clothing" is not part of the common name then I agree with TenPoundHammer that it should be removed. However, I do not think that the retailer should be the sole proprietor of the name. Let them share it equally.Griswaldo (talk) 03:34, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing and contradictory....Needs clarification![edit]

The first paragraph of the article is confusing and contradictory. It calls Goody's Family Clothing "defunct" and indicates that the nature of the bankruptcy was one that involved full liquidation of all stores. (Indeed, the old headquarters in Knoxville is long since occupied by other tenants.) Furthermore, the article says explicitly that Stage Stores of Houston bought the rights to the "Goody's" name. Yet, without any explanation, the article turns around in the next sentences and says that Goody's Family Clothing (NOT "Stage Stores") reopened stores in the southeast! How can that be if Stage Stores now owns the rights tot he "Goody's" name and if Goody's Family Clothing is "defunct"?! More research needs to be done and there needs to be more clarity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.23.165 (talk) 16:31, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
