SEPARATION OF GORKHALAND AND WEST BENGAL

[edit]

Government of India is thinking to separate gorkhaland and westbengal just like telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Some of the ministers say that it's right as it would help to mange the country more smoothly, besides this the local people and the opposition parties are totally against this policy, all of them don't want the separation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.161.226.35 (talk) 08:04, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gorkha ethnic ? or Nepali ethnic

[edit]

Indian Nepalis are gorkha or simply nepali ethnic people ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deswaali (talkcontribs) 07:59, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gorkha or Nepalese

[edit]

There is no Gorkha ethnic background. Gorkha is a term used in Indian and British army to categorize those soldiers who are from Nepal. This movement's all members are Nepalese.Ovsek (talk) 14:04, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

No matter if people of Gorkhaland say them that they are Indian not being Nepali. The history of Nepal, treaties of India-Nepal cannot be negleted. They are Nepalese people who were allowed to stay in India. ThunderStromm (talk) 13:41, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Correction- They were already there when the treaty was signed, they came with the land and not 'allowed' to to stay in India.

Editing and Citations

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I am working on the 2017 Agitation section. There are quite a few grammatical as well as other errors in this subsection. Some of the facts mentioned here do not conform to their respective citations. I edited and corrected a few of these, but someone edited them back as they were. So I would like to request my fellow editors to kindly keep the Citation policies in mind while editing. When you write something and provide a source for it, please make sure that the source actually says so. If the source does not, and you are sure it is true, cite a different source in that case. But otherwise, if your source does not state what you are saying, it amounts to 'baloney'.
