CT firearms permit is not a CCW permit
[edit]Please note that a CT Firearms Permit is NOT a CCW permit. It does not mention concealment on the permit anywhere and nowhere is it stated that the firearm can not be visible. It is a common misconception that the CT Permit is a CCW Permit. After reading the new highly convoluted law I can not see anything that changes this aspect of the law. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dreydreydrey3 (talk • contribs) 11:37, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- While not specifically just CCW, open AND concealed carry are legally allowed within the state. So, strictly speaking, it IS a CCW permit in function, if the person who is carrying chooses to conceal the fact they are carrying.
- What bothers me is that, as shown on https://www.cga.ct.gov/2016/rpt/pdf/2016-R-0330.pdf , it says "a person who openly carries a pistol conceivably may be subject to arrest for violating several statutes" without listing what those specific statutes are on that page. So, let's say, for a random example, someone who is legally carrying a pistol on their person gets and this pistol gets seen by someone who overreacts and calls the police on them, even though that person carrying has done nothing against the law, they are now subject to being stopped and talked to by the police, possibly, for doing nothing. Let's say the officer in this hypothetical situation is not as aware of the laws as they should be, could they conceivably charge the law abiding pistol carrying individual with disturbing the peace because someone who is anti-gun overreacted? Is this one possible situation where someone who is legally allowed to carry that pistol is subject to this type of action? 32.212.102.239 (talk) 06:20, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
