Regarding the story about Hendrik Wade Bode and Wernher von Braun sitting on the NACA Stever committee: von Braun created the V-2 but was not chief engineer of the V-1; the IEEE source cited does not support the V-1 assertion. (This kind of blunts the anecdote, but I did not excise it.) Both the V-1 and V-2 were mainly tested at the Peenemünde center, which sometimes is confusing. If von Braun made any contribution the the pulsejet V-1 aircraft, it was small compared to his role in leading the development of liquid-fueled rockets, including the V-2 (or A-4).
