Annual lists of band performances... Do we need this?

[edit]

Pinging: Danmeister664, Mushroom: I am concerned that most of the text of this article is lists of bands who performed at this event, organized by year and none of it associated with a citation anywhere. I do not doubt the accuracy of the information, and I think that including descriptions or line-ups of particularly notable years might be fine, but I am thinking maybe we don't need a comprehensive list of every band from every year (especially without a single cite). I think the article stands on its own without any of these listings at all, but would prefer it if another editor more familiar with the topic would pick a few notable years and provide summaries and corresponding citations/ ref for those years. Failing that, the article may be better off without the lists (in line with the sentiment of WP:NOTDIR). Comments? Thoughts? KDS4444Talk 05:58, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, it has been seven days and there has been no further commentary. I am going to remove these listings and ask future editors to consult this talk page before reverting or re-adding. KDS4444Talk 21:54, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Which section of WP:NOTDIR applies? Listing the bands from each year is consistent with all other articles for notable music festivals. (E.G. Maryland Deathfest and Wacken Open Air) Xombie (talk) 02:19, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking of number 7: Simple listings without context information, similar to a list of sponsors or of tourist attractions in that simply giving a list is like making an entry in a directory— Wikipedia isn't meant to be a catalogue. If some of these performances were particularly notable, then they should be given a context, like maybe a one- or two-sentence write-up. But making a list for the sake of list making "because it's true" or "because it happened" doesn't hit me as encyclopedic. Also, in this case, WP:OSE. KDS4444Talk 07:03, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
