[edit]Adam: I am led to believe that Bolte's government produced very high levels of public debt to pay for infrastructure. In fact the interest bill was higher than that for Cain(Jnr) government:some 30% of states costs. Though Keynsian economics are looked upon poorly currently, history has a bad habit of reminding us there are other ways of doing things econmically. This should be mentioned as the bill for the infrastructure was paid for via taxation and not privately. Hope this is of help. TransylvanianTwist
Adam: as I have argued before Bolte's developmentalism was based on state debt. This must be mentioned -to reflect historical reality. I must insist that it stated. Why the change? Do you know otherwise? TransylvanianTwist 05:31, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
I edited out your bad grammar. If you want make an edit on the subject of state debt, do so. Adam 07:36, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
Good oh!, we seemed to of reached consensus.TransylvanianTwist 01:24, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
"We seem to have reached consensus." This does not inspire confidence in your ability to edit grammatically. Adam 03:01, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Golly, but, we have established your sublimated anger in the form of sarcasm. Please kick the cat, anything, but not schoolboy sarcasm. Im unsure who is that interested your level of inspiration. The TEXT is everything. Remember Im just a disembodied voice so attacking me, is like, pointless . TransylvanianTwist 04:00, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Capital punishment
[edit]"In his later years he became known as the last Australian politician to approve of capital punishment.
There are politicians in Australia who to this day still approve of capital punishment. I do think that it is either very badly worded and should be rewritten OR deleted entirely.
The article does not state if Ryan had an appeal in process. As I remember it correctly, Bolte simply rang up the prison governor and ordered him to kill Ryan the next morning. It is within the normal range of powers of a state governor or premier to order the summary execution of anyone. A state of emergency does not need to be in force. Bolte did not need to change the law; it simply did not exist. Only the Federal bunch are required to defer all such decisions to their own courts. THe "separation of powers" only applies for the Commonwealth. State constitutions are little changed from the original colonial martial law decrees. In 1967 Vic was not even hampered by the 1689 English Bill of Rights, considered now to be the most basic of human rights, nor were the other states.220.244.72.167 (talk) 08:48, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
