Isabella Gerard

[edit]

Cokayne does indeed state that she was the daughter of Sir Francis Gerard 2nd Baronet in his Volume V. Then her mother who married in 1650 would have been running very late to provide a daughter of suitable age to marry elderly gentlemen born in the 1670s (even if the daughter were very rich). Perhaps not physically impossible, just very unlikely.

The ODNB wisely states she was the daughter of Sir Francis Gerard, Baronet (period)

But Cokayne has it right at the foot of page 143 (creations by James I, Gerard or Gerrard of Harrow-on-the-Hill) of his Volume I where he states she is the daughter of of Sir Francis Gerard 4th Baronet. I have adjusted references accordingly. Eddaido (talk) 03:22, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
