Jongno 6ga-dong

[edit]

i'm really getting confused by this "ga" business. What does that mean exactly? Anyway, I would consider relinking it to the proper dong, but i'm not sure exactly which dong that will be in the end since the list on the Jongno-gu page separates them kind of strangely. User:Appletrees knows best. I'll be patient I guess. DaronDierkes (talk) 03:52, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Ga" (wikt:街) is a transliterated term to refer to "street" or "avenue" in Korean. Until stubbing the dong in Seoul, I had never cared about differentiating the dongs with "ga"in Gangbuk area (areas surrounding Jongno-gu and Jung-gu which is the counterpart of Gangnam area including not only Gangnam-gu, but also Seocho-gu, Songpa-gu which has no "ga" in their name). --Appletrees (talk) 04:21, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So what should the location link be on this page? Jongno 6ga-dong is kind of a vague link. DaronDierkes (talk) 05:27, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gates in Seoul

[edit]

"Since the South Gate (Namdaemun) was set on fire on February 10, 2008, Dongdaemun is one of only two main gates that have survived, the other being the North Gate or Bukdaemun (more formally Sukjeongmun). One more minor gate known as Changuimun also still stands, bringing the total number of surviving gates to three. The West Gate (Seodaemun) was demolished earlier." This is not accurate. Other gates, such as HaeHwaMun and KwangHeeMun also exist. I'm delorting this whole paragraph. Eunsung (talk) 13:25, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
