Cite your sources please

None of the articles currently listed as references mention cast, writers or directors. In fact, all they say is 'this is happening' and it will be an 'experience' in 2008. If you can't cite where you're sure Kenny Ortega etc are working on this, then you are speculating and you shouldn't put it in an article. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 13:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Filming Date

According to Just Jared, Filming is set to begin in January, however this does not mean that any of the people have signed on as this is not known. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.108.117 (talk) 20:16, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

IMDB and Movie Title

All citations except Lucas Grabeel's, state this movie will be called 'Haunted High School Musical.' And Lucas said his comment about a junior prom was maybe, kinda, sorta, if they get around to it. Which makes it unreliable and not something we should put in. As for IMDb, they're not reliable in this either. It's premature to assume they're right, when they don't even cite a source. Find a news article, please, or leave it out for now. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 13:15, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

The movie Is not Called Haunted High School Musical.Lucas did not say that He mentioned on people magazine special edition.,That the movie has changed its title to HSM3 okay .So shut Up about it.User:dude254269

UNLESS you can provide a CITATION calling this High School Muscial 3, please leave the title alone. Also, if you can't cite that Kenny Ortega is the director, which none of the currently listed citations can, then please don't add it. This isn't rocket surgery, people. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 16:10, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I have been on the IMDB website for HSM 3 and everytime I go on it says something different so Can someone please claify if all this info is true because if not it sould be erased. Thanx. ~Headstrong 345~

The IMDb "possible plot summary" seems to still be stuck on the old "Haunted" lines. WAVY 10 18:58, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Lock?

Should the page get locked because of the constant changing between HHSM and HSM3? Just a suggestion. JpGrB 03:23, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Normally I'd say yes without second thoughts, but I've noticed that at some of the edits are by a registered user. Still, it would stop the unregistered for a while. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 13:36, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey Morron Its HSM not HHSM.I think We should

leave it unlocked.User:Dude254269

First, personal attacks are very rude. Second, I have been watching this page for a long time, when it was still HHSM, and that is when I made these comments. Next time, please look for things like this. JpGrB 21:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Cast

I have a question, if it says Lucas said there's not a script written down, then how can there be a cast? And I read the reference where it says they've all signed, but I can't seem to find it, all I see is that everything is still in talks. Can someone please clarify, because if not, I'm going to delete the cast section. JpGrB 00:57, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Dude U Cant read cant u .because it said that even they they dont got a script they want the same cast just like hsm .User:Dude254269

They could likely have done casting beforehand. WAVY 10 13:20, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I have read on some websites that the casting has already been confirmed and also I have read that zac efron may not reprise his role as troy bolton can someone please claify this? Headstrong 345

Whoa! That would be headlines if that was NOT the cast. Where did you see that? WAVY 10 14:04, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, about Zac Efron not wanted to reprise his role on the 3rd film was an old interview. Recently, he has said it would be great if he could come back for the 3rd movie, and that it would be a great way to end the HSM series. 74.116.121.187 17:02, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Apparently, Efron hasn't come to a deal yet...and I'm pretty sure no Troy, no movie. WAVY 10 19:19, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

The cast wants more to their salary. High School Musical (no I'm not flaming fans, and no I'm not helping the haters either) is a low budget movie, rather it is a TV first then DVD release movie. You can only get a higher salary if you do a Hollywood blockbuster, or generally any theatrical films, what are they trying to pull? It's as if this movie is so amazing (Like Oscar's amazing), the only thing that they're winning in are viewers & popularity, the reviews for both movies have been mixed (and I mean mixed) at best. Oh right, they're only 19 (Effron) and 18 (Hudgens), but... Is money all that matters to the them? Ha, and they have kids idolizing them too, they're horrible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jijjin (talkcontribs) 06:24, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

HSM3: Gradu-Dancing???

Where did that title come from? WAVY 10 13:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Life & Style Info

The Info From Life & Style Should Not Be Added. Life & Style Is A Rag Mag And Is As Reputable As Asking A Hobo On The Street.--Jwein 17:49, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree. Whether or not Life & Style is a "rag mag", I think the information is relevant - especially since it's already up in the air as to whether or not HSM3 will take place. Dh993 20:18, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Spooky?

While the movie was still titled Haunted High School Musical, it was stated that during the production of HSM2, a song named "Spooky" was recorded for the 3rd movie, and I don't think that they'd scrap a recorded song. Couldn't it be stated that it might be a bonus track on the soundtrack? —Preceding unsigned comment added by REBA IS FUNNY16 (talkcontribs) 20:02, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Assuming there is any truth to that, I would think so. WAVY 10 20:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
HSM3 hasn't even been confirmed yet, so for a song to already be recorded seems very unlikely. As for whether or not it (whatever "it" is, since I haven't even heard of "Spooky" until just now) "might" be a bonus track - there could be a lot of songs that "might" be a bonus track. Dh993 20:15, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Plot Info Realsed Already?

I find it hard to believe that the plot of the movie has already been put on here when we don't even know if this movie is even going to go through yet so I think that it should be removed. Headstrong 345 03:06, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Headstrong 345

Paraphrase, people!!!

First of all, I'd just like to say all of the personal attacks are getting ridiculous. Grow up, guy.

My main point is this: the last major paragraph (if we can even call it that) is lifted from the BuddyTV.com source - VERBATIM. I'm pretty sure that lowers Wikipedia in general to have such blatant copyright infringement. Even with a footnote citation, you're supposed to put it in quotation marks (if it's a word-for-word quote) or paraphrase it.

It needs to be fixed. SkittlzAnKomboz 02:25, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

High School Musical 4

Umm... there is no proof that there is even a High School Musical 4 in the works, so please do not list it under the "followed by" category. Besides, how will they make a HSM4 if this is their senior year? Thanks. WriterFromAfar755 03:49, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Since when has anyone been able to rely on disney for reality? in all likelyhood, they will all fail all their classes, so that they will have to retake 12th grade, hence HSM 4, (and as long as disney makes money at it, they will have to retake 12th grade again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again.... ALSO kids will probably start failing all their classes on purpose, to follow their... erm... Richard & Judy

Shouldn't there be a citation about Zac Efron confirming the reprised roles on the show? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.236.165.20 (talk) 01:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

    • I'm now going to remove that paragraph as i have watched the richard and judy interview now more than once and zac does not mention anything about his participation in hsm3. Amstoakes 10:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Development...

Can either of these paragraphs be verified?

"Later Zac Efron behind the scene was demanding high amounts of money in comparison to the rest of the group. One inside Disney executive said Zac Efron wanted more than the other 5 main cast members combined. Disney has not yet made a final descion on this case but has made it clear that Disney will not hesitate to remove Zac Efron from the cast if he does not accept what Disney offers him."
"It is unclear whether or not Disney will allow Vanessa Anne Hudgens to play a role in the film, with regards to the leaking of nude photos of her."

Considering the recent controversy surrounding Hudgens, I think the second one could be a factor, but if Disney does not allow Vanessa to be featured for those reason and/or Zac for contract issues, I would have a hard time believing the film will see the light of day, so can someone find a cite before I removed one or both paragraphs. WAVY 10 18:32, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

We should probably add a block to unauthorized editing for this page, there are very stupid people out there who will try to tinker with this article surrounding the controversy as stated above. Just a suggestion Silent_Assasin2 1:48, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Fliming Production already announced?

it says that fliming for HSM 3 is to being in March 2008. so does that mean that all the oringal cast have confirmed that they are coming back? If not I highly doubt that they will have already set a production date already because they haven't even decided on a script. Headstrong 345 23:26, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Headstrong 345

No, HSM3 has not been confirmed yet. That was just a piece of unsourced info. which I took the liberty of removing. Dh993 23:47, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Production will start in march 2008 not filming so this means getting the script down and cast confirmed. Amstoakes 21:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Plot realeased?

Again, there appears to be a plot on the page. I (like Headstrong 345) find it hard to believe that there has been a plot released for this movie (with characters) when we don't even know if this movie is going to be made yet. Should it be removed? Dave! Dsgtrain 19:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

If you're referring to this edit, I reverted it since it is completely fictional and provides no basis. I also moved the article back to its original name. Dh993 19:38, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Regarding The Plot I think that this article should be locked that way no one can put up a plot that they would like to see it the movie the way I see it is that I'm sick and tired some people putting up fake plots. So that is why this article should be locked from editing 74.120.28.227 00:18, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Headstrong 345

Development incomplete?

How come so much information for the development has been left out? Numerous articles report that Zac and other castmates were holding out for more money, like [this one]. Also, there have been reports about Adrienne Bailon replacing Vanessa, which is obviously a rumor, but we can state as a rumor, not as a fact. Snoborder93 02:51, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

The reports regarding salary disputes were disregarded by Zac Efron. The Adrienne Bailon report is a ridiculous report started by gossip magazines. If Hudgens or some other reliable source (not gossip bloggers) make note of Adrienne Bailon replacing Hudgens, then we will also so note it in the article. Dh993 03:18, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah that's true. People Magazine is the only tabloid I really trust and since Vanessa has been in like every issue this past month, and they haven't said anything about it, I guess it's not true. When did Zac disregard the reports? And even so, that doesn't mean Ashley and Vanessa weren't asking for more money, like they did for the second one. Snoborder93 05:00, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
I believe that the Bailon replacing Vanessa but is ridiculous, and doesn't belong in this article as per the fact that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. "Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation." Although there is a source saying that it can be potentially true, that source is speculating which, in Wikipedia, makes it invalid unless there's reliable non-speculative sources such as a statement made by the people behind the movie. In any case, I believe that doesn't belong in the article quite yet.
-- Python (Talk to me!) 15:04, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree, the only thing I would be able to say, just to play devil's advocate, would be to mention in the section where it states Vanessa won't be replaced was that Disney was thinking about Bailon. (If, in fact they were thinking about her.) JpGrB 15:21, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Disney's official statement referenced in the article addressing the speculation is sufficient as of now. We don't want to report details. No need to help spread rumors and gossip in a wiki article. Leave that to the gossip magazines. --NrDg 16:15, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree with JpGrB - and thanks for playing devil's advocate. Mentioning the Bailon consideration by Disney, who now seems to be sticking to their star Hudgens, puts a proper end to this (hopefully) and makes the section more fully rounded. I have attempted a rewrite in this fashion.Smatprt 16:21, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I strongly disagree with adding anything more than what Disney has officially stated. No matter how this is written the source is still only a mention of gossip with NO source other than speculation that has been refuted by Disney. Adding speculation to this article adds nothing. The article is about a planned movie, not about malicious gossip that won't go away. --NrDg 16:34, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I like and agree with the current edit made. Thanks for helping out and sharing your ideas on this article, everyone.
-- Python (Talk to me!) 19:24, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry - did disney refute the Bailon consideration? And are we ony putting in what disney "officially" says? Is there some allegiance to Disney that we are part of? If Hudgons' job was in jeopardy and if Disney did consider other performers, why is that not newsworthy? Did Disney back off from their super-clean image due to the commercial realities of losing Hudgons, as implied in the article referenced? And isn't this whole article gossip based since there is no actual movie deal that has been finalized?Smatprt 06:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Disney said nothing about the content of any of its internal discussions - they did state the conclusion of the discussions. See http://www.reuters.com/article/televisionNews/idUSN0746838620070908 cited in the article "A Disney representative said the photo would not affect its decision to cast Hudgens". I also tried to verify the BuddyTV article about an insider at US Weekly. There is nothing that I could find at either the US Weekly site or US Magazine site as used as sources for the BuddyTV article. See http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrities/vanessa_hudgens. I think Disney might have been throwing around names as internal speculation on what to do and Disney was probably considering replacing Hudgens but decided not to. Reports of unnamed sources at some other magazine are just a bit too indirect to be considered a reliable source by wiki rules. The article as it stands now does give the current verifiable status as of now and does address the rumor of a replacement. It adds nothing to the article to NAME one of the possibilities that MIGHT have been considered. Again this is an article about a planned movie. Yeah a lot is speculative but, in my opinion, the naming of a rumored replacement for one of the main actors is going too far. --NrDg 16:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
The National Enquirer (although not very reliable) said an insider told them Adrienne was asked to dye her hair darker for the part. Normally I would not believe this, but they are the ones who first reported the nude pictures. I think it's worth mentioning that her nude photos lead to speculation of her replacement by Adrienne Bailon. Snoborder93 23:11, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
To quote Robby Stewart from Hannah Montana: "Even a blind pig occasionally snorts up a truffle" with respect to the National Enquirer. Still not a reliable source we should use. The unnamed insider quoted by an unreliable, known to make things up, paper is pretty meaningless. I think the National Enquirer just as likely made the whole thing up as a reasonable conjecture and planted the whole rumor. The unnamed insider could also be Adrienne's agent for all we know, just to get her name considered. I still say too unreliable and doesn't add anything to this article even if true. If she were STILL under consideration and we could back it up, THEN it would add to the article. --NrDg 00:47, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Haunted High School Musical

There’s no denying the popularity of High School Musical. The made-for-TV musical’s success has led to a second made-for-TV movie, an attraction at the
Disney parks, and even plans for a theatrical third chapter. Earlier this year it was announced that High School Musical 3 would hit big screens instead
of the little one, and would center around the kids’ adventure in a haunted house.

The title: Haunted High School Musical. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, however.

TV Guide has announced that plans for a third High School Musical have changed. No, this isn’t because the second telefilm didn’t quite live up to the first one, and no you’re not getting out of going to theaters. There will still be a High School Movie theatrical experience for families to both enjoy and suffer through. It just won’t be about a haunted house.

Instead High School Musical 3 will center around “the fast-growing ‘kids’ senior year.” Presumably this will include senior prom and graduation, and will probably see the kids going their separate ways at the movie closes… unless they go off to college together, in which case we can expect “College Musical” in just a few years. And, this is Disney, who loves to milk a franchise to death, so I would expect to see exactly that happen.

According to this week's issue of OK magazine, HSM3 begins filming in January. This article also mentions that Ryne Sanborne is also in talks for the film, in addition to the main cast. I'm not quite sure how to cite a magazine on this website so if anybody knows how to or can find an internet source. Snoborder93 17:37, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, if I'm not mistaken, if one of you can maybe upload a picture of the article (with the text stating so), to a picture hosting website, then you can use that link as a ref. I believe this is acceptable. And, if one of you could do this, that would be great for the page. JpGrB 17:22, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Actually there is going to be no HSM IV do to the fact that all the oringal characters are going to graduate in third movie if they even make the movie at all but rumours have been floating around that there might be a Junoir High School Musical but for right now it is still considered a rumour. Headstrong 345 19:17, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Headstrong 345

Technically, it doesn't matter if the characters graduate. The fourth movie could always introduce a new cast (as much as that would suck). here's an article from the writer of the first 3 movies discussing the fourth and fifth movies. This article also has Kenny Ortega saying that the franchise may move to anew generation. I think it's safe to be that High School Musical 3 is not the last we'll see of the franchise. But as to if we should include it in the article, I don't know. It's not hardly relavent, but it is notable.Snoborder93 (talk) 23:08, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Cast Confirmed?

It says that they have rounded up the cast to do the flim. if so there should be a confirmed cast on this article. So I'm going to put one up and I ask that no one erase it please. Thanks Headstrong 345 (talk) 04:13, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Headstrong 345 that is not what the article says. The director says it looks like we've rounded up the cast. That is quite different than a confirmed cast announcement. Until you can supply a reliably sourced reference, please don't make additions like this.Smatprt (talk) 07:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Okay another questioned if their is no confirmed cast yet, homcome they have already set when they are going to go into production so shouldn't they know by then who is going to be in the movie? Also I have read on some sites that the cast has been confirmed as well. so can someone please explain to me why there is no confirmed or even a rumoured cast list at least so people can get an idea of who might be in the movie. It came from a magazine advertising the chance to have a walk-on role in the film or something. I have no idea which magazine, I'm guessing Disney Adventures, and I think the ad had Vanessa on it. I know it's real, but I can't verify per say, and I didn't put it up. Snoborder93 (talk) 00:44, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
But didn't Disney Adventures shut down at the end of last year? WAVY 10 Fan (talk) 16:38, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

It was in like November 2007 that I saw this article. If Disney Adventures had shut down by then, it was a different magazine. It may not be the "official" logo, but maybe just the one their using for marketing right now. I know it's not fan-made, but I can't prove it so I guess it's "original research". But like I said, I'm not the one who put it up. Snoborder93 (talk) 23:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

This is an article about the HSM2 DVD premiere event. So I assume that includes the 3rd and 4th, but let's just focus on the 3rd. And then here is an article confirming Olesya's return. Snoborder93 (talk) 23:14, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Casting Section

Do you think there should be a casting section. Tony Oller auditioned and was rejected. Ali Lohan has been confirmed to have auditioned. Jake Thomas claims to have auditioned. There a few more, and there are sources for them all but I just wanted to see everyone's opinion on whether or not a casting section is necessary (maybe it could also be a sub-section for Production). Snoborder93 (talk) 23:22, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't think it is really called for. Can you imagine how many people "audition" for various films, tv shows and theatrical productions? I think what Wiki would say is - is it notable? Auditioning is hardly notable. Getting cast, on the other hand, is quite notable. Also, given that all the leads are returning to the next installment, what would be notable about auditioning for a supporting or ensemble role? Good question though and thanks for raising it here. Does anyone know if this is the official tracklist or not? I was wondering 'cause some of these sound really stupid. I would probably believe Mixin' My Turn, I Am Over You, or It Will Never End, but the rest sound stupid. Like who would actually want to see a showdown song between Ms. Darbus and Coach Bolton. I sure wouldn't. I hope this isn't the official tracklist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WildcatMaster3000 (talkcontribs) 23:14, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Whoever keeps putting this tracklisting up could you please stop because that is not the confirmed. True, though I remembered seeing something mentioned on the pop-up version of the original film where it was mentioned that there was a song the two were supposed to have after Troy tries out for the musical; but it was scrapped for unknown reasons. WAVY 10 Fan (talk) 15:43, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh I did not know that but thanks for bringing that to my attention. So then I guess that song between the both of them could be possible. Headstrong 345 (talk) 14:54, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Headstrong 345

It was mention in the High School Musical Pop-Up Edition that there was origionally a battle song between Darbus and Bolton but it didn't survive the final cut, maybe that's where the idea originated from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.181.18.138 (talk) 05:01, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I was checking the history to see when Miley Cyrus and David Archuleta were added and Im not sure if this is vandalism or if there actually in the movie. Either way theres no citations, so once there added then they can be replaced. Rosario lopez (talk) 20:04, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Edit: BlueAmethyst beat me to it, is the Miley Cryus one true? It doesnt have a citation either.
There were rumors that David was going to make a cameo in the movie but couldn't because of the American Idol tour. It's most likely false - just like the Britney Spears rumors. Miley Cyrus was in Tennessee the the majority of filming so its highly unlikely she'd be in the film. Snoborder93 (talk) 04:46, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Question.

Is there any source that states when the film finished production? This article states it was supposed to finish on June 13, but I haven't heard anything really since? Oh, and also, in the opening paragraph, it just seems to randomly say "People magazine, July 7, 2008;" and I don't know what this is for. If someone can help, thanks. --JpGrB 04:31, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't have a source, but a bunch of blogs were reporting that filming would wrap up on June 30 (it was originally scheduled for June 13 but filming go delayed). Ashley, Zac, and Vanessa were seen outside of Salt Lake City around the 26th, meaning they were all done filming. I'll look into it, but I can't guarantee a good source. But I know that they wouldn't have gone past June 30 because there was an anticipated actors strike. And about the People Magazine comment, I think someone was trying to use it as a source but didn't do it correctly. Snoborder93 (talk) 04:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

How was it a "big controversy on the development"? And as for her involvement in the film that's something that should be in her entry and not the movies. Dontyoudare (talk) 11:32, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, because it was speculated on if she would be in the movie. But like I said, it's fine for a discussion, or even if you'd like to take it out. I just thought that it was important because it was unsure if she would be in the film due to the controversy and Disney's "clean image" thing. Just my opinion. --JpGrB 12:10, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
I think it should stay. It was specific to her involvement in THIS film, not her entire career. And JpGrB is correct in that it also involves Disney's squeaky image, and how they somehow let it go because of her status. Smatprt (talk) 21:11, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

But it's about HSM3 Senior Year, and i don't see anything on any scandals on the first 2 movie pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.108.142.240 (talk) 17:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

That makes no sense. There may not have been scandals this big for the first two movies. This is the female lead in a movie almost being recast or just discarded because of photos, I'd say to have the female lead almost gone is a reason to keep it in the article. --HELLØ ŦHERE 02:48, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Agree with JpGrB. Obviously there will be no consensus to change this so I think it's time to end this discussion. Smatprt (talk) 03:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

ITS IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THE ARTICLE! DO NOT PUT IT BACK IN! It should be on HER page. get it got it good —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.240.190.145 (talk) 13:37, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Actually, that's not a bad idea, I could agree to that. --HELLØ ŦHERE 01:28, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

The Seven Main Characters

Kelsi Nielsen is now one of the main cast members of HSM3: Senior Year! She's apart of the doll collection of 7 and before the other profiles came on the HSM3 site, she was one of them on there, so she's one of the main characters, it even says that on Olesya Rulin's article here —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.108.142.240 (talk) 05:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

I believe the reason she keeps being reverted (not just by myself) is because many people feel there are 6 main characters as shown in the poster. --HELLØ ŦHERE 06:05, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

But there are now 7 main characters because Olesya's character is now a main character. just because she wasn't on the poster, doesn't mean she isn't a main character. So the Seven are: Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad, Taylor & Kelsi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.104.87.166 (talk) 14:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Nope, the six stars are the ones on the poster. Being part of a doll collection is hardy a justifiable reason and all the major press and articles names just the six. Sorry. Smatprt (talk) 15:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

But on Olesya's home page and her article, it says that she's has now become a main character this time. And in the doll collection, even if it doesn't matter, it only includes main characters, and Kelsi is apart of the collection. And again, just because she isn't on the poster, doesn't mean she isn't a main character. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.108.142.240 (talk) 17:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

First, lets use the correct terminology. The article (and the industry) uses the term "starring". "Main character" doesn't really mean anything in the context we are discussing. Having said that, its clear that the six "stars" are the ones on the poster. If Kelsi was "starring" then she would be there too. So unless you can find some reliable third party sources (not her website) that describe her as one of the stars, then no changes should be made to the article. thanks. Recent changes to cast order

A new editor keeps moving the minor role of "Jason" to a more prominent position than it deserves. I have reverted this (as have several other editors). I don't immediately recall if "Jason" has many solo lyrics in the movie, but I will review it soon. I do know that his character does not even contribute to the cast album. This editor is correct that the West High players don't sing in the opening number so I have reinstated that portion of the edit. In them meantime, I have asked thru the edit summary for the new editor to provide a reference if he wishes to reinstate this edit - or talk it our on this page. Smatprt (talk) 06:30, 8 December 2008 (UTC) After several versions, I have placed a 3r warning on the editors talk page. For discussion purposes, I have adopted the cast order as listed on the IMBD reference in the article. Until we have another reference, this one will need to one we rely on. Smatprt (talk) 06:59, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Ryne Sanborn does deserve the position I had him as Jason is one of the 4 secondary main characters and in the end credits his name appears right after Olesya Rulin so that should be changed in the cast section and for the template it should resemble the same - Olesya, Ryne, Chris, Kaycee, Bart, Alyson, Jemma, Matt, Justin. In A Night To Remember Jason sings a line before Zeke and Martha so that is why I placed him before the others. Chris and Kaycee are not listed on the album either but they along with Ryne sing parts in A Night To Remember and a line in High School Musical. There is also no need to put Wildcats in the other singers section because they don't do any actual singing. In Now or Never it would be easier to just have Gabriella and the East High Wildcats since that is what the cheerleaders are also. Hsm7 (talk) 20:02, 8 December 2008 (UTC) The problem is that the IMBD reference in the article lists the cast differently than what you propose. Regarding the template, it applies to all the movies so there are going to be different orders depending on which roles come and go, which get "promoted" and which get cut. Bart and Alyson, for example, had much larger roles than "Jason", who is pretty forgettable, especially in the first 2 installments. But the issues are 1) notability, and 2) references. Which are the more notable actors? Under that criteria, I would doubt that Ryne Sanborn really would lead the pack. Do you have a source to backup your claim that Ryne is one of the "four secondary main characters"? If so, please provide here on this talk page and we can discuss further. Thanks. Smatprt (talk) 23:23, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

I think its more reliable to go by how the actual movie end credits lists the actors and how the director, producers, etc. wanted it to be. Whether it may be "forgettable" or not he is indeed one of the four secondary characters. In HSM2 near the end all the 10 main characters walked up the hill together, in HSM3 all 10 main characters led the A Night To Remember and High School Musical number. There are 6 primary actors: Zac, Vanessa, Ashley, Lucas, Corbin, Monique and 4 secondary actors: Olesya, Ryne, Chris, Kaycee. Also this is the same order they appear in the end credits of both HSM2 and HSM3. And also Kaycee wasn't officially added as one of the 10 until HSM2 whereas Ryne already was. Hsm7 (talk) 16:27, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

I have not seen this film, a regret on my part, but I must ask where your sources are from? I understand the end credits, and that's very good, but is there a source that lists them as a "secondary" actor, or is this just your terminology? --HELLØ ŦHERE 16:35, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Its pretty obvious that Zac, Vanessa, Ashley, Lucas, Corbin, Monique are the 6 primary actors and Olesya, Ryne, Chris, and Kaycee are the 4 secondary actors. At the end of the High School Musical number the 6 lead stars walk down the football field while the 4 secondary stars stand in front of the dancers as the curtain closes the graduation scene off. Besides what else would you call them since they are part of the 10 main "Wildcats" and appear directly after the 6 lead actors? Also, its not my terminology, its just want everyone has been calling these 4 stars. Hsm7 (talk) 22:48, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

"It's pretty obvious" and what "everyone has been calling" are not sources. That is called "original research". It's pretty obvious that Troy's Dad is a huge part, as are the new characters (who certainly have larger parts than Ryne and all but Olesya. There are some fans that think Olesya is the "7th star" now. Again - thats called original research unless you can back it up with a reliable source. Also - the template applies to all the movies, in which Bart and Alyson are key players. Regardless, the only reference we have is the IMBD list, so until another reliable source is found, we should just leave the order the way it is there.Smatprt (talk) 17:55, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

No, Alyson appeared in the first five minutes of HSM2 and only had a slightly larger part in HSM3 same as Bart who had only a couple of scenes in HSM2. So no, they are not key players in all three films. Alright here is a source that backs up my point. The official HSM3 website, in the ABOUT section under CAST it has in order - Zac, Vanessa, Ashley, Lucas, Corbin, Monique, Olesya, Chris, Ryne, Kaycee, Bart, Alyson, Matt, Justin, Jemma. Also in THE STORY section it says "America's favorite high school students (ZAC EFRON, VANESSA HUDGENS, ASHLEY TISDALE, LUCAS GRABEEL, CORBIN BLEU, and MONIQUE COLEMAN) hit senior year", which supports my point that there are 6 primary cast/characters. Hsm7 (talk) 18:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Yes, there are 6 stars. There is no dispute over that. And whether or not (in your opinion) Bart and Alyson are more important than Zeke, Jason, etc. matters little here. The IMDB lists the cast according to the credits (opening credits or end credits, they do not say) and they have Bart and Alyson listed after the 6 stars. How actors are listed on the HSM3 site matters little. We have a source that lists the credits and the order. That has to suffice for this article.Smatprt (talk) 06:19, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

You wanted a source to back up my claim and I gave you one. I still think Bart and Alyson should be listed in the cast section after Kaycee. Why does it matter so much to you where Bart and Alyson are listed? I mean, the only reason I believe they should be below Kaycee is that the 10 seniors are listed first since the movie is about them. Hsm7 (talk) 14:16, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I managed to see the end credits and here is exactly how the movie lists them (I'll list by character): Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, Sharpay Evans, Ryan Evans, Chad Danforth, Taylor McKessie, Kelsi Nielsen, Zeke Baylor, Jason Cross, Martha Cox, Coach Bolton, Ms. Darbus, Jimmie Zara, Donny Dion, Tiara Gold, Mrs. Bolton, Mrs. Montez, Mr. Danforth, Mrs. Danforth, Mr. Evans, Mrs. Evans, Principal, Sharpay's Dog. So that proves my point that the 10 seniors/actors are listed first then the rest of the cast, not before. Hsm7 (talk) 07:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

that's great, but it's called Original Research and is not allowed here. Please read the wiki sections on this and on providing proper references/reliable sources. Until you do and start following procedures your edits will be reverted. Sorry, but you really need to observe the rules for editing if you want to contribute to these pages. Just like the rest of us :) Smatprt (talk) 17:19, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
For the past couple of days I've seen this go back and forth. I have not seen this movie, which is why I have not edited it in a while. Smatprt, you know when it comes to this stuff, you and I get along pretty well, but from what I've gathered on Wikipedia since my time here, I've come to realize that for things such as this, the movie is the source. Now, I may be wrong, but it seems that if this is how the movie credits are, this is how it probably should be. --HELLØ ŦHERE 20:50, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Exactly, what source is more reliable than the actual film itself? Besides, how else am I suppose to back it up with a reliable source when the most reliable source is the film? I know that youtube is not a great source but there is a video showing the bloopers for the film in the end credits and to the side the cast list is visible and its the same exact order I've been trying to prove. Hsm7 (talk) 00:28, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

No, I wouldn't recommend YouTube at all. --HELLØ ŦHERE 01:09, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

I know, I'm just saying that how can I give a reliable source when its the actual film's end credits? Hsm7 (talk) 05:14, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

This source also has the cast listed the exact same order the actual film listed them in the end credits. By character name: Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad, Taylor, Kelsi, Zeke, Jason, Martha, Coach Bolton, Ms. Darbus, Jimmie Zara, Donny Dion, Tiara Gold, Mrs. Bolton, Mrs. Montez, Mr. Danforth, Mrs. Danforth. They even have the 10 seniors listed in one column and all the other characters in the next column. Here is the source - http://disneydvd.disney.go.com/high-school-musical-3-senior-year.html#/?page=Trailer. So how many sources will it take for you to understand that the way I listed the cast is how the people making the film wanted it and thats the way it should be. Hsm7 (talk) 05:33, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
