[edit]Corrected following sentence: "he was the one who inadvertently introduced into association football the gesture of lifting the winning trophy up high". Checked the UK newsreel footage of the 1950s and in most FA Cup Finals of the decade the trophy can be seen lifted in the air after presentation.
