Importance of Athletes

[edit]

Is the big list of State winning track-and-field athletes necessary? It looks quite ugly and rather unimportant. If it's staying, it needs to be updated. CuttlefishTech 08:23, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While adding some new state champions to the list, it has come to my attention that the table is not easily expandable due to its two-column format. It should probably be redone in an appendable manner. That is, if the table is still worth keeping. CuttlefishTech (talk) 21:43, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updates

[edit]

The class list has been removed see here as to the reasoning. All other items have been added to demonstrate the notability of the school. Aboutmovies 21:58, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I clarified a bit of info about the InvenTeam (I'm the leader of the team). It's rather notable, is it worth its own section? I can supply a bunch of information. We did visit Boston and present our invention before a large audience, including many MIT professors and inventors. Another cool thing about Hilhi, we recieved a $20,000 grant from Intel to purchase a 3D printer, this worth adding?. I could also complain about the campus--it was designed by a california architect and orginally the separate buildings lacked covered walkways, drenching students when it rained. Not sure how far to go with the Wikipedia entry. Also, I changed "more traditional AP classes" to just "AP classes" and removed the "Citation Needed". To cite, you'd need to visit the course catalogs of other Hillsboro School District high schools. I originally added the list of classes because the other Hillsboro schools had lists of AP classes. I think the link to the course catalog should be reinstated. CuttlefishTech 04:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Before adding things, take a moment to read about original research, reliable sources, and verifiability. These would like limit what you can add to things available in published works. If you can do this and the content takes up more than a few lines then feel free to add the InvenTeam. The Oregonian archives have stories going back to 1989 and I'm sure things were covered in The Argus. For citation info see WP:CITE.
With some of the other info, again refer to the above cited policies and guidelines (i.e. for the AP classes it may be best to remove the info unless you can find a source that covers this). Or maybe use cites to the other schools' curiculum and a link to HHS course catalog, this way the link is back. Otherwse the link to the course catalog would fail WP:EL as the link to the school is already there. With everything, also keep in mind what wikipedia is not. Hopefully all these policies will not overwhelm you as a newer editor. But if they are all followed the page will look a lot better than the other Hillsboro schools and maybe we can get it to Good Article Class. Happy editing. Aboutmovies 05:29, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PS Please note I am a Hilhi grad, so I know all about campus (though you have an auditorium now). The key with all the info is to make sure it is sourced from Reliable Sources as defined by Wikipedia. Aboutmovies 05:29, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Plano Senior High School is a Featured Class article of a high school. This can serve as a good guide for content/formatting, etc. Other Oregon schols are not good examples. Aboutmovies 05:42, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 10:17, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colors

[edit]

See this listing for the school colors (the Hilhi site does not list them). Aboutmovies (talk) 09:03, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Class list

[edit]

I feel that the list of IB classes taught at Hillsboro High School should remain up. Since Hillsboro High School is one of only ten IB schools in Oregon, I believe it benefits people to view what specific classes they offer. A full class list I agree to be unnecessary, but a select list to rarely offered classes is a unique trait to the school.Nerdyback (talk) 20:05, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

How relevant are the coordinates in the external links section? Assuming the coordinates stay in the upper right as they are now, do we really need it in the article twice? Orange Dude (talk) 02:08, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's how the coordinates get in the upper right. Remove the template from the EL section and the coords will disappear. You might try looking for a coord template that shows the coords but is otherwise invisible. Aboutmovies (talk) 05:13, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reference Section

[edit]

The reference section is messed up, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Anyone know how to fix this? Aboutmovies? Crazy (talk) 23:06, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Aboutmovies (talk) 04:02, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish handbook

[edit]

The student handbook was once published in Spanish. http://schools.hsd.k12.or.us/Portals/27/Docs/Academics/2010-11-student-handbook-spanish.pdf - It may be good to see if it's possible to make a Spanish Wikipedia article on this school.
