[edit]I think this article is very good. But some aspects are not so good, because they are unclear. Maybe I have misunderstood something, because I can´t English very good.

I think more should be added to Sydney in the 20th century. I'm sure something's happened here since the opening of the Harbour Bridge. EG: attacks by the Japanese in world war II, construction of Sydney Opera House, the Olympics...
- Actually, I think this article is pretty bad. We jump from 1850 to 1832 and then from 1832 to 2000 with nothing in between - that's 150 years of history with one event listed! Is there a project Sydney that can help fix this up? Triki-wiki 02:39, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Triki-wiki
On that note, I've started improving the article a bit, beginning with the gold rush. I'll add more info over the weekend if I get a chance. Triki-wiki 07:10, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Triki-wiki Well guyz why dont u at least appreciate what is being written and not criticise.. Criticizing is an easy think but rectifying it aint... why dont you complete it ( the guy whoz criticizing) ... I think da article was great Good job mann...Keep it Up thanks for ur help and information
Criticizing is easy when there are few good refs. If you weren't alive in 1788, then you must quote the people who were. Facts based on what your grade 3 teacher told you in 1962 are not of interest, unless you're a journalist or politician. The name Sydney seems to be well established just a few years after 1788. 'Port Jackson' seems to have been around earlier. Can we have some definitive refs here. Manning-Clarke or Blainey would be good.203.219.71.247 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 09:03, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
Aboriginal history
[edit]I'm happy to add more on Aboriginal history of Sydney, so that its a bit more of a clear prelude. Ultimately there should be a separate page on the pre-European period, as the topic is mainly establishment of the town onwards.60.242.50.195 21:09, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
What is missing from the recently created city timeline article? Please add relevant content. Contributions welcome. Thank you. -- M2545 (talk) 15:31, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Revisions
[edit]Hello all
I have made substantial revisions to several sections of this article. I have tried to focus on the history of Sydney rather than New South Wales and Australia which is well covered by other articles. I have removed some information which is unsourced or poorly sourced, and replaced it with sourced information based on recent scholarship. I have cut some excessive detail and images which are well covered in linked articles. I have created new headings and sub-headings which better reflect the reworked material. Happy to discuss.
