While it it true that the 3-movie Thanksgiving gorilla marathon ran on WOR from 1976 thru 1985, it should be noted that the duo of King Kong vs Godzilla and King Kong Escapes, which first aired on the Friday after Thanksgiving in 1985, continued there in 1986 and 1987. It is also interesting that WOR aired King Kong alone on Thanksgiving day in 1972 at 3pm and in both 1974 and 1975 at 1pm. Favorable ratings for these showings presumably prompted the expanded marathon, although King Kong itself was omitted from the first one in 1976.
