"Honey Bunny" as a pet name[edit]

I removed the bit about "Honey Bunny" in Pulp Fiction. It's irrelevant, as this article is about a very specific cartoon character. If that information belongs anywhere, it's on Wiktionary. Or perhaps List of pet names. — BrianSmithson 12:45, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Bugs Bunny Comic Book #499"[edit]

I see once again there appeared an information about "Bugs Bunny Comic Book #499". Did such an issue ever existed? I ask because I can't find any information about it. So far the lat appearance of Honey Bunny in comic books I've found was in 1993, on a cover of "The Looney Tunes Magazine" #3 (Way Cool Winter Issue). Further explanation of my deletions[edit]

I deleted this as it is sourced from http://www.honeybunnyworld.com/6,en,art.html, which appears to be a fan site run by User:Ivellios1988, and gives no indication that it is a reliable source:

In the middle 1990's artists working for Warner Bros. started working on "Space Jam". In this movie Honey Bunny was planned to be Bugs Bunny's female counterpart. In early sketches an athletic female bunny with a bow on her head is seen, wearing a dress referring to the flag of the United States of America. However, some artists commented that she looks too much like Bugs in drag and they decided to change her look. They probably took an earlier yellow version of Honey Bunny and updated her to a more modern look.

I deleted this as speculation: "Probably from the very beginning they wanted to change her name as well. Among proposed names there appeared such ones like Bunni Bunny, Lola Buni, Lola Rabbit, and even Daisy Lou. Eventually, the character has got the name of Lola Bunny."

I deleted this because it was sourced from a wiki (looneytunes.wikia.com), which is inherently unreliable: " Technically speaking, Honey Bunny and Lola Bunny are the same character who has just been redesigned and renamed. The same thing happened to Melissa Duck who in now-aired The Looney Tunes Show has got the name of Tina Russo Duck."

The information that Honey Bunny was planned to be used in Space Jam is confirmed by Robert Guthrie from WB who took part in some online discussions (mainly on UseNet) shortly before Space Jam was premiered. He also explains why Lola Bunny has the name of Lola Bunny and why not Lola Rabbit, Bunni Bunny or Lola Buni. So it's FACT, not a speculation.

The only thing we can discuss about here is the Melissa Duck/Tina Russo Duck situation.

Among others, this is confirmed (though maybe not directly) by early sketches for Space Jam that became available online shortly after Space Jam was premiered: http://imageshack.us/g/502/lolaearlyconcept2.jpg/ the most obvious is the first one with artists' comments saying she looks like 'Bugs in drag'. What's more, on UseNet (I know, 'not very reliable', etc.) Robert Guthrie who created model sheets for Lola Bunny said they got some Honey Bunny model sheets from Warner Bros. to use in this movie, and because of her very 'Bugs-like' appearance they decided to change / re-design her.

Why Lola Bunny has the name of Lola Bunny and not, for example, Bunni Bunny? Guthrie explained it this way:

- with the name of Daisy Lou the character could be confused with a girl bunny that appeared in 'Hare Splitter'

- 'Bunni Bunny' - this name appears on some 'almost ready' model sheets (example here: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/41/lolaearlyconceptalmostt.jpg/ ), however, later it turned out that this name was already copyrighted by someone so they needed to change her name

- 'Lola Rabbit' he described as 'failure'
