Declaration stone of the 1818 Devon election?
[edit]I came across the following stone at Rosemoor_Garden in Devon. It appears to be some sort of declaration of the result of the 1818 Devon Parliamentary Election, which was won by Lord Ebrington. It includes an interesting prologue of a selected history of the county and some choice descriptions of his opponents!
I think it would be an interesting addition to the Hugh Fortescue page, but I don't know how best to tie it in to the format of the page. Can anybody advise?
The text of the stone reads

- Hubbard the Danish Chieftain AD 878
- by which the immortal Alfred was
- Restored to his throne.
- William 111 of glorious memory who landed at
- Torbay AD 1688 whereby the sceptre was wrested
- from a tyrannical despot and liberty established on its
- Constitutional Basis.
- Lord Ebrington who AD 1818 vanquished a disgraceful
- coalition and recovered the electoral Independence
- of the County out of the hands of a combined Oligarchy
