Just the facts

[edit]

Theintro to this article seems to have incorrect information. It states that the song was the brainchild of Relles, but according to reference [2], it was the idea of both Relles and Kauffman. Furthermore, she and Relles co-wrote the lyrics while Kauffman and Friedrich co-wrote the music. The current intro gives the impression that Kauffman only sang the song without co-writing the lyrics and the music. 69.12.176.59 06:51, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be kept. People search "Obama Girl", not Leah Kauffman to find information on this video. I agree with Spacini.

keep it's currently as relevant as things like Chuck Norris Facts or JibJab

  • I would like to see Wikipedia keep it, although my husband says "It's just a YouTube thing, and I wouldn't keep it." He also asked me to emphasize that he is a political science major.
    • It hasn't only been featured on YouTube, but other video sites like MySpace as well as major news channels including CNN, MSNBC, etc..

This page should definitely be deleted. Definitely not something that belongs in an encyclopedia. It's just lousy advertising for Obama.

I disagree. Many other internet videos (like the Back Dorm Boys) have their own entries. Obama Girl ain't high art, she is notable. Nickbii 14:42, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article should stay. This video has been seen by millions and is getting attention from mainstream news outlets. It could very easily become part of U.S. political campaign history. Remember that video of Dukakis riding around in a tank? --Spacini 19:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be deleted if Ron Paul Girl is deleted, which it was. Politically motivated move? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.13.224.44 (talk) 19:27, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the article should be moved into the bigger one on Obama, or the article should be renamed for Model or the singer (ms Leah Kauffman), if renamed for the singer then My Box in a Box can be amalgamated into it as well since it is her work. DrQuak 19 June 2007

Moving it into the bigger article on Obama doens't make any sense, because this video was in no way connected to Obama's campaign. However, I agree that there can be a case made that maybe a Leah Kauffman page could be created, with info on My Box in a Box and Obama Girl. Bjewiki 18:17, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

On the Infobox's that I put on the article, it was edited to say "July 22" under both the recorded sections. I'm a little confused as to what the Infobox means by "Recorded." I personally thought that it meant when the song was recorded, but the date says "July 22", which is after both singles were released. Does it mean when the articles were recorded into the article, as in written in?CoolKid1993 02:21, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's supposed to be the date the recording was done, if known (such as for Beatles songs). July 22 is obviously wrong. Wasted Time R 02:43, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page Move

[edit]

From the amount of discussion on this talk page (very little) I'm going to be bold and move the article to "I Got a Crush ... on Obama" since the title of the video does include an ellipsis. Millancad 05:27, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Father military

[edit]

In the Sep 2007 she says her father was in the military for 23 years. Does anyone know which branch?Rlevse 13:53, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:I Got a crush...on Obama.JPG

[edit]

Image:I Got a crush...on Obama.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Requested move

[edit]

I propose that this article be moved to Obama Girl (currently a redirect to Amber Lee Ettinger), and that the article cover all of the character's appearances, not just a single video. Fishal (talk) 20:10, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
