Popular culture
[edit]This section is rapidly turning into list-cruft. Are there any objections to my deleting it? Rklawton (talk) 13:40, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
No objection from me to deleting the Popular Culture section. I believe it adds no valid information about the Star. MikeReilind (talk) 21:56, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Define "valid" information? Users may wish to read accounts of actions, however fictionalised or dramatised, leading to issue of the Star in order to better understand recipient behaviours and motivations. Formal objection to the deletion of that section is hereby registered - which incidentally has nothing to do with the significant-ish edit I just made to it ;) --77.239.13.66 (talk) 23:08, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
How many bios in how many places?
[edit]Hello, all,
It is unnecessary to duplicate the biographies of recipients of the Intelligence Star. They are covered at greater length in their stand-alone biographies. If they aren't they should be, as their notability was established by the award. If you must write biography, start there.
I have found biographies of the same case officers not only under their own individual names, and here, but also in Special Activities Division. Heavens knows where else they lurk. All these tucked-away bios are a waste of effort, folks; work on the real bios.
Thank you for reading my rant.Georgejdorner (talk) 17:39, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
How about this?

"Awarded" versus "earned"
[edit]Hi all, just a general note concerning military and paramilitary decorations, especially those for valour. Generally their receipt is formally described as being "issued with", being "earned", being "received", and so on, rather than being "awarded" or "won". These are not prizes, these are recognitions of honour and courage, and their price is generally anything from PTSD-like symptoms (at the cheaper end), if not a full diagnosis, to one's life (at the more expensive end), and vocabulary should reflect that. --77.239.13.66 (talk) 23:08, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
