It seems kind of premature to call this a rivalry game. It's listed under "Big Ten Conference football rivalry games." It's obvious the Big Ten is attempting to manufacture a rivalry, but is it one already? Maybe in a few years if it catches on and becomes more than just a game against a bordering state, which Iowa has a number of already. Is it that on Wikipedia that you only have to have a trophy in the game for it to be considered a rivalry? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.139.203.32 (talk) 18:39, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know what the official policy is, but it seems to me that any game that involves a trophy could be considered a rivalry. AutomaticStrikeout 18:15, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]How come we aren't using the actual Infobox made for these sports rivalry articles? I don't get it. I think we should use it, so that way the logos for the teams so can be in it to easier identify the schools and many other things that it provides. The last time the Infobox was used was here. Thoughts? --CorkythehornetfanTalk 01:37, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- I did replace it with the Template:Infobox college sports rivalry. I'm not sure why its was replaced earlier when I made it. CorkythehornetfanTalk 04:26, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
Adding a reference link
[edit]Because some people think that the Big 10 created this rivalry to "make things interesting," I found an article from Bleacher Report that basically confirmed it. Sure, Nebraska and Iowa fans may believe that it is a rivalry because the states are right next to each other, but that doesn't make it 100% true. Adding this link gives more background information on the idea behind this 'rivalry.' — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annanebelsick (talk • contribs) 04:08, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Rivalry OFFICIALLY started in 2011
[edit]I propose that since the creation of the HEROES TROPHY GAME was the official start to this "rivalry" series, then any data posted should ONLY be from the past six games. Either that, or create a separate page for this "rivalry" game. Keep in mind that neither the Iowa fans nor Nebraska fans considered their overall/historic series to be an actual "rivalry". Most still do not count this current trophy game as a legit "rivalry" since it was forced upon them by the conference. Give it another 10-15 years and it will naturally grow into a "rivalry". With that said, this "rivalry" page should ONLY include data, statistics, and records since 2011. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.74.43.56 (talk) 17:59, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
Why aren’t we using the actual name of the rivalry?
[edit]Nobody says “Iowa-Nebraska Football Rivalry”. All of the branding refers to this matchup as “The Heroes Game”. This page should be renamed (moved) to its actual, very stupid name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.46.12.119 (talk) 02:34, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
